Re: Yamaha SK20 signal bleed in mixer section

Can I suggest taking a look at the volume foot pedal input for the string section.

Ahhh... Thank you. That explains so much. I bought a bunch of them as backups in case it happened again - They're quite a useful chip to have around. More VCA's for the modular then ;)

You're lucky I didn't do a Roland tribute synth with Data 70 ;)

Re: New DIY Build - Semi Modular Analogue Synth

Finally... Properly completed. 7 week build, which is pretty fast for me. Leather side panels on, rear I/O panel sorted (although due to a silly mistake I made in the artwork, it's white not, anodised - I'll get it re-done at a later date). Calibrated, re-calibrated & re-re-calibrated. It's all beha...

Re: Kronos 88 note keybed/touchscreen thoughts.

I have the Kronos 2 88 - The keybed has 4 weight zones across the 88 notes, it's subtle but noticeable. As for the touch screen, yes it's resistive, but recent OS updates (the latest is 3.1.0) have improved the touch response. I rarely use my finger for touch control anyway... invest in a hard stylu...

Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

1) The synth that made you want to play music: ARP Odyssey - Influenced by Ultravox, John Foxx & Magazine 2) Your first synth: Transcendent 2000 (Self built from a kit in 1979) 3) The synth that has surprised you most: Novation Ultranova/Korg Kronos 4) The synth that has disappointed you most: 1. O...

Re: Korg Monologue

While restarting EGs from zero is uncommon on vintage analogs it's not unheard of...ARP Odyssey did this, too. Umm... I have a MkIII and I'm stood in front of an early MkII (I'm repairing the VCF), neither retrigger from zero - They always retrigger from the current release voltage, as you'd expect...

Re: MANTHER, MR. Q, and...??

The company is Malekko - I quite like the Manther, Curtis VCO & VCF with sequencer... very SH101

The BPF is a Paraphonic wavetable Synth - No prices yet though.

Re: I want a Moog Modular filter!

I've built a Moog Modular VCF which I use occasionally - But if you put something like a 2600 through it... it still sounds like a 2600.

Ignoring the build variables, It's the sum of it's parts that give the Moog Modular "That" sound I'm afraid - It's very difficult to emulate.

Re: Full sized Korg Arp Odyssey

So in other words, instead of reissuing the Odyssey, Korg should have made their own Odyssey inspired synth, perhaps with mostly reissued Odyssey components? Umm... errr... If I can do it, I'm sure Korg could ;) http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=96539 https://c1.staticflickr.com...

Re: Full sized Korg Arp Odyssey

It looks like it'll be expensive though... It's still considerably cheaper than a maintained vintage Odyssey and it's got MIDI. Surprised nobody's mentioned that. My problem with Korg's Oddy is that they use the same circuitry in all 3 models (Mini and FS) - The original Odyssey MkI and early MkII'...

So was I - I didn't WANT to return mine, but envelopes starting at zero with every key down is a PITA. It's OK in a polysynth (in fact, it's necessary for the voicing structure), but not a Mono.

If it's ever corrected, I may reconsider.

Re: What do you mix hardware with?

I had to ditch my old Alesis Multimix 16 USB2 due to lack of driver support - If you need a USB mixer, make sure it doesn't require specially written drivers! You'll be very lucky to find a mixer that has stereo pairs only - Is it so difficult to move two sliders at once ;) I ended up with a Behring...

I'm using Hexinverter's MIDI2CV - 4 channels that can overflow to 8 ;)

You can either buy it Ready built or just the PCB's & PIC
