Actually what's an even bigger mystery is the Juno-106S. Exact same thing as the HS-60 (Juno-106 w/speakers)...

You can use the "chip squeeze" technique. Hold down a note and squeeze the CEM3394s with your fingers until you find the the one that changes pitch/makes noise and you've found the voice that's playing.

Most likely a lifted solder pad/trace during soldering/desoldering.

The OB-8 has a very deep arpeggiator with lots of functions. One of those functions is user programmable intervals (instead of the standard octaves in most arps) so you could have some weird interval settings going on. Try turning off all the intervals by holding down MODE and pressing the leftmost...

There's a service bulletin than mentions SN 333050 which means Roland only sold 222 (or even less) JP-8s in the 10 months from 6/83 - 4/84. That shows just how much the DX7 and others killed off these big analogs at that time...

Make sure to test all the circuit board traces in the area for continuity as well. I have all the chips available if you need any.
