Re: Juno 60 acting weird

In a previous thread I had mentioned a Juno 60 coming into my possession that was in TERRIBLE shape. After a ton of cleaning, a bit of repair, and some good old fashioned TLC, it lives once more, but there's a catch... Every once in a great while it works perfectly, but most of the time the "HOLD" ...

Re: Any synths with keys like the yamaha cs-80?

Some of the Yamaha combo organs of the same era have the same feature.

Re: Roland SH-1000 Fixes??

How do I test if the power supply is working properly? Unplug the connectors going from the power supply to the rest of the synth (all of them, all at the same time), then measure the voltages at each connector on the power supply board. Of course, if there is a bad component on the power supply bo...

Re: Looking for "12db/oct vs. 24db/oct" audio comparison

I haven't looked yet, but I would suggest going to youtube and looking for Oberheim OB-Xa or OB-8 videos. Those synths are switchable from 12dB to 24dB at the touch of a button. They actually use 2 different CEM3320 chips for this. If someone recorded a demo that switches back and forth between the ...

Re: What are your favorite type of synth sounds?

Okay, so I said detuned saw...but then I remembered this...I don't say this lightly, but to me, this is greatest electronic sound OF ALL TIME (mainly because it's pure electricity!). I think there's also a band in Austin that plays two of these at their live shows. Who needs a synth when you can pl...

Re: Yamaha SK-50D Organ/Synth

As I play with the Sk more the ensemble/tremolo buttons on the lower manual have started to loosen up. Others are getting better as well. So maybe with time they will get better. A few keys on the poly-synth were a little quiet, playing has fixed that. So I think that this thing is a little groggy ...

Re: Roland SH-1000 Fixes??

Re: FINALLY! Re: OB-Xa with Numera midi kit

After all this time, and head-scratching, and :banghead: , I've finally sorted the beast out. The fix turned out to be simple, after it was found that is. Finding it was a serious PITA, and basically due to a reasonable, but faulty in this case, assumption. The first time the machine crashed, I test...

Re: What are your favorite type of synth sounds?

Hmm, Pulse wave (assuming pulse-width mod available), filter almost completely down, resonance just below oscillation, slow attack and release, with the ADSR modulating the pulse width and the filter cutoff :2cool: Of course, a sawtooth if PWM is not available. Next, the above, with the pitch modula...

Re: Korg Poly 61 Question

Im Owning a Juno-60 and i was thinking to buy an Korg poly 61 too.. my question is are those maybe too similar? and can the 61 do more/other things than my Juno 60? You will find the Poly-61 a bit more of a chore to program. However, one thing that is rarely mentioned is that the Poly-61 has a 12dB...

Re: Roland SH-1000 Fixes??

Welcome to the board! Hi there! I just picked up a Roland SH-1000 off my local classifieds for $50. Seems like an awesome deal, most definitely was but when I took it home, fired it up and plugged it in no sound came out of it. Not such a good deal if it dosen't work! I'm wondering if anyone has an...

Re: OB-Xa with Numera midi kit

Well, after hacking away on this thing the last few days, there's now a long list of stuff that ISN'T the problem (or has already been fixed): 1. Midi board. 2. Upper and lower control boards (computer board). 3. Modulation/bender board. 4. Upper motherboard (voices 5-8). 5. Power supply. 6. Compute...

Thanks! Mine reads infinity. Must be a failed CPU input even thought EVERYTHING else works 100% Problem is no response to MIDI IN. Out works, programmer PG-200 works, all six voices, envelopes, programing from panel, sequencer, etc. Just no damn MIDI in. Changed PC900 optoisolator, 74LS00 gate, con...

Re: OB-Xa with Numera midi kit

That's a Rev A board... Looks like you have Rev C ROMs. Do you have an EPROM burner? I think I have the normal XA Rev C ROM images I could send you... I wish I had an EPROM burner, but alas, I do not. Thanks for the offer though! In other news, I've managed to pretty much rule out any problems bein...
