Re: Electronic Lounge/Smooth Jazz beat

Haven't tried drum sounds with the OB-12 though. In fact, I've never tried making drum sounds on a synth, ever. Any good links on how to do that?

Re: Electronic Lounge/Smooth Jazz beat

Thanks for listening! Honestly, I hated the drums too. Pattern and all. At the time I didn't know how to properly quantize and just couldn't get a good groove going, and said screw it and just recorded it as-is. But I recorded it and...whatever...what's done is done in my book. I rarely if ever go b...

Re: Electronic Lounge/Smooth Jazz beat

And now for my last electronic lounge track that I've made recently. It's my first ever attempt at a cover song. Thanks to the various piano players on Youtube I was able to see what notes they were playing and play it myself. All the sounds, even the fake piano sound playing chords, were done with ...

Re: Roland JX10 + PG800 + hard case for $950

Nice. The JX-10 PG-800 combination is a great one. Editing without the PG-800 is surprisingly fast and intuitive as well. But they are great synths. I always say the JX-10 is like the Rolls Royce of analog polysynths. It was just a beast. I expected to open the case and see the electronics encased i...

Re: Electronic Lounge/Smooth Jazz beat

Thanks man! Huge compliment really, as I'm an aspiring movie/television composer. I'd love to have my music in real movie scenes some day. For those interested, I used a genuine Rhodes piano for most of the sounds, and the Oberheim OB-12 for the flute sound. The drums are an 808 kit from the MV-8800...

I like it. Reminds me of Turrican or some other retro video game about space. Good work.

Re: Sound Cloud thread

Is this thread worthy of the sticky? my latest: http://soundcloud.com/fy_11/sets/olga-five Your music is incredible. Well done man. It reminds me of 70s and 80s library music, which is exactly the type of music I make (or try to make, anyway). Library music if you aren't aware is music made specifi...

Re: Finally got a VZ-1 demo ready

There are only 4 tracks to the tune but the complexity is what boggles my mind. It's definitely "advanced" compared to what I do. I'd love to learn how to make music like this though, especially old Commodore 64 and NES synth tunes. It's tough though. Oh well. Looking forward to hearing more tracks ...

Re: Finally got a VZ-1 demo ready

I had a VZ-1 once, didn't get to spend much time with it before I sold it. I love the CZ series of synths though, but they are worlds apart really. Anyway, I like the cover of the Turrican song you did, sounds great. I want to make music like this but it never turns out right. How do you manage to h...

Re: Electronic Lounge/Smooth Jazz beat

Thanks for listening! Yes, I record, mix, master, and burn the finished product all from within my MV-8800. It's got an excellent mixdown mode, some very usable and user friendly mastering presets (and you can adjust the settings yourself if you know what you are doing). It's an all-in-one package. ...

Re: Closest DCO synth to Jupiter 8 in a tone perspective

I'll probably get flamed out for saying this, but I'm pretty sure I can get similar sounds to the Jupiter 8 from my Oberheim OB-12. For one, the feature sets of the 2 synths are very similar, with the OB-12 having the advantage of many more advanced features, such as an on-board graphic/parametric e...

Re: roland sp 808

This is one piece of gear I've always been meaning to buy, but it just has never happened. I've tried every other SP series sampler from Roland/Boss except the 808. If you do buy it let us know how you like it. I imagine it's pretty good for loopy stuff and like someone said, not so great for indivi...

Re: New to sampling! Thinking of getting an electribe esx-1.

Second the SP-606. Great machine. Very easy to use, flexible, and very creative. Loved having 2 separate FX processors.

It may be overkill, but I'd recommend the Roland MV series of sampling workstations as well. They are amazing machines. Buy one of those and you really don't need much else.
