Re: Suggest me a starter setup please.

Will software synthesis make my productions sound the same like Stock, Aitken Watermann productions, Quincy Jones, etc.? Or will I need hardware analog modules for that? I'm worried if I get software synth packages like those listed, it still sounds tinny like 90's ROMplers. Software is so advanced...

Re: Synth1 Demo

Nice! Sounds really good! Thanks! The Synth1 VST is amazing to me. Sounds so musical and so good, it's hard to believe that it's not only free, but that it barely takes any CPU to run. I could spend hours just playing with it and programming usable sounds. Great instrument! That's cool! I remember ...

Synth1 Demo

Hello!

Just a little demo I made with Synth1 and Reaper. All sounds are from Synth1 except the square wave bell-like tone, that was made with Charlatan, another free instrument.

Enjoy!

Re: The factory preset conundrum

well there is a list of what synths i currently have and use in my signature, and i've had about again as many of other synths, too. the oddy falls squarely between the solus and 2600 in terms of features, and my solus is very close to a mk3 oddy in build / era / basic sound. stick with the odyssey...

New Production Music LP from George Marauder

Hello! Just doing a little shameless self-promotion here. I just completed a little 10 track compilation of some older tracks that otherwise probably wouldn't have seen the light of day. Uploaded it to Bandcamp and am awaiting some feedback on it. I plan on doing many of these albums so any tips or ...

Re: Oberheim OBX-D Demo Song

Thanks for checking it out!

The VST is pretty sweet. I'm enamored with it because I just started using VSTs after using Reason for so long. So finding free synths that sound good is pretty awesome.

Re: The factory preset conundrum

I've found monosynths with memory to be somewhat less exciting/less fluid instruments than the ones without. As with anything in life sometimes convenience and improvement comes without sacrifice.... but usually, not. I don't know what synths you're talking about, but after programming a sound on t...

Re: OBXd Excellent Oberheim Emulation

I made a little demo song and posted it over in the Listening Lounge. Nothing too crazy, just a few sounds I made using this VST, in a track I arranged in Ableton Live.

Oberheim OBX-D Demo Song

Hello! All sounds minus the drums were made using the VST plug-in, "OBX-D", which is an emulation of a vintage Oberheim OBX-A synth. How does it hold up against the original? I have no idea. But it does sound pretty good, I think. So I made a little track with it. Nothing too special. Enjoy! https:/...

Re: The factory preset conundrum

Presets can be good or bad. I don't see a big issue with them. I've used presets to make music and I've thoroughly developed my own sounds. Whatever sound good, is good.

Re: OBXd Excellent Oberheim Emulation

The more I use this the more impressed I become. I have no idea if this could compare to a real OBX, but this emulation certainly has character and produces some wonderful sounds.

I'll probably make a YouTube video showing off some of my patches when I'm further along.

Re: Jupiter 6 Vs Proph 08

Why do you consider the Prophet lackluster? It seems like a very capable synth to me. Have you really dug into it's editing capacity and learned how to get the most out of it? I just don't see going from that to a Jupiter 6 as being an upgrade. The Jupiter is sexy because it's retro, but you have mo...

Re: Assault On Precinct 13 x 2

Both versions are good. The kick and snare sound a bit too muffled in version 1 for me, so I like the drums in version 2 better.

Good work!
