Re: worst luck lately with synth death

yeah, i just checked all of the above. and my apt. has really new electricity + I have a surge protector as I can't afford to lose hard drives being a photographer and all. The sixtrak memory is intact. Like the patches haven't gone anywhere, just gone silent...lame. I checked all ribbon connections...

worst luck lately with synth death

I've had both a sixtrak and a xoxbox c**p out on me in the span of 2 days. Both seem to have also suffered a similar fate of working on the programming side, where they light up but just not producing any sound. Both were purchased from friends who used them without issue for ages, and died in the f...

Re: VSP-330r2 Is Here (VP-330)

no osx availability? wa wa waaaaaa (disappointed trombone sound). Man this sounds good, just not good enough to suffer windows to use it. Any chance this will get an osx friendly version?

Re: Gear Trading Thread

IN CHICAGO Paia Fatman $250 It's the blue rackmount version and in awesome blue (looks better than the black panel, IMO). It's light enough to ship, but I'd prefer local. I'm looking for cash or trades for a few things: Roland tr-606 Moog CP-251 EHX flanger hoax Kenton Pro Midi/CV Synthesizers.com o...

Re: What to keep? + going modular

Thanks for the input. I ended up finding some great deals on used dot com modules and am adding in some stg soundlabs stuff as I'm friends with them. The paia will for sure go once all is said and done here and my biggest quandary now is what reclaimed lumber to use for the case. I have tons of cool...

Re: Suggest me rack equipment

Ok, so this is a bit out there, but if you're recording things for percussion purposes and synths, an MXR pitch transposer is an amazing piece of gear. Yeah, the MXR Pitch Transposer is stunningly awesome. But it might not really be what the OP is looking for... Yeah, maybe not. It's just the one p...

Re: What to keep? + going modular

Thanks for the insight guys. I actually got an offer on most my gear that'll get me 2k to get rolling. In the end I'll still have a virus, the mg1, a paia fatman, monotribe, er1, ipad w/io dock, and the modular all running to ableton. I'm actually getting a deal on about 3/4 of what I'd need to star...

What to keep? + going modular

So right now I have 2 monosynths and pile of polys and I'm wanting to simplify my life. I do this mostly for fun and I'm thinking of getting down to the essentials and I also have a chance to get a bunch of 5u Moog format or Eurorack modules for a good deal so I'm thinking of trimming back the herd ...

Re: Is there a synth for me out there?

So the tetra+mopho combo is rad. I have a few oldies and I think its a nice compliment to the older pieces I have. There's a bit of that juno top end sizzle but sub osc to give it some real boom. Honestly a prophet 600 would be a real treat if you find one in good condition and you don't want to cha...

Re: Suggest me rack equipment

Ok, so this is a bit out there, but if you're recording things for percussion purposes and synths, an MXR pitch transposer is an amazing piece of gear. They run for 500ish and they're early digital stuff from the 70's. They can do either a wildly amazing chorus effect or add up to 3 intervals of not...

Re: MIDI/Hardware Advice for a Software Guy

Most midi sequencers do just that. I have a cheap ea-1 electribe that I use for midi sequencing but there are other things that have great sequencers, like the monomachine and in fact that's what I would recommend for you if you want to have synth sounds with a bit of a groove box as well, sans drum...

Re: Jp8000 vs blofeld

Wow, lots of responses here all the sudden that I missed while on a 3 week work binge. In the end, I kept the blofeld, and have been digging in first before making any decisions. I'll agree with people that the options are pretty fantastic and I see myself being able to sit down with it for a couple...

Re: diy broken key fix idea

Yeah it was going to be 200 but he flaked 3times and felt bad. My keys are super yellow, but it's probably due to smoke from a past user. It supposedly has the same keys as the Calvin nord boards so I'm not sure why they would notoriously yellow. I love a good DIY fix. Saves me from leaving a synth ...
