Re: Grooveboxes - worth it?

It's pushing your price point but the original Korg EMX-1 might be worth researching and saving for if you're getting started. It's so much fun and super easy to get up and going on. That said, I personally like the sound of (and deeper flexibility of shaping sounds on) the Roland MC505, but never a...

Re: Grooveboxes - worth it?

What are you looking to do with it? Do you have gear other than the volca beats? Do you have a computer integrated into your set up? Or is this going to be a stand alone piece?

Re: lightly blown out drum sound

This is fantastic, thank you. As if I needed another excuse to buy a minibrute! it sounds cool to my ears, particularly the highpass filter. Listening to your examples I'm hearing I need to work on the panning of my drums, or my wet/dry balance or something, as running the stereo drums out through a...

Re: lightly blown out drum sound

Thanks for advice man. Plug the aux send into a spare channel on the Mackie, overdrive the input (nothing's gonna die if the clip light comes on) and slowly bring up the fader from zero. Bingo, free distortion! Tried this last night: got sucked in and lost the next 2 hours messing around with it. Wi...

lightly blown out drum sound

This is a noob question, but I'm looking to get some light distortion/overdrive on the sounds from my drum machine in a hardware set up. I've been trying as an effect send and keeping a lot of it dry with the the return channel having most of the bass cut with just ok results: Tried this running thr...

Re: Super Basic Hardware Sample Playback Machine

If smartmedia cards are ok with you sounds like a korg es-1 / esx checks them boxes, right?

Re: ESQ-1 trouble HELP

Not sure I understand what you're asking to do. But if you have a voice cart with a patch you want in your internal memory, just stick the cart in, select the patch, hit write and save over something on the internal bank. ..?

Re: Cheapest possible hardware for making wind SFX?

I'd appreciate advice on how to proceed. What I want to do could be done easily with a few VSTs, but for sentimental reasons I want a little hardware device. Now, the only hardware synth I have is the Fizmo, and it isn't good for what I want to do. Really? There are certainly other ways to do this ...

Re: Thoughts on the Korg MS2000R ?

Synthacon - are you saying that the step sequencer and arpeggiator will not syn to other MIDI devices? If the case, that's extraordinary, and reason enough not to buy one (and perhaps explains why they are selling so cheap these days?). To clarify, the appregiator and step sequencer will not transm...
