Difference between CV inputs and outputs

I can't figure out how there can be a difference between an input or output for cv. If one needs to reference the cv to either use it to control something else or to add/subtract from it and affect its parameter on a synth, they would connect to the same point on a board. So how can Moog, for instan...

Re: Monotribe CV control

Firstly, I recommend Altitude (the post above) for Monotribe midi kits, his is only 40, and its easier to install IMO. It is seriously too easy to mess up, you just plug in one cable and its done, no knowledge required. I'm sorry, Altitude, if I had any idea you even sold such a product I wouldn't ...

Re: Monotribe CV control

What I am curious about is when this was all planned. Its not like the 3.5MM TRRS jack was used there accidentally.. Thank you, that video is SO helpful!!! :D I'm getting a feeling Korg may try to expand into Eurorack territory possibly, and are maybe trying to start a new CV standard before they d...

Re: Monotribe CV control

Never really had to link things together via CV before. I know there's a MIDI mod for the Monotribe, but if buying a cable will be cheaper and not void the warranty, it'd be a better option in case I want to return it or sell it "like new" used later. My old hesitation and new reason to midify the ...

Re: Monotribe CV control

For CV it all depends on whatever jacks you have to connect... The general standard is two unbalanced (TS) 1/4 inch jacks, one for pitch CV and one for gate (some can use banana or 1/8 inch jacks as examples). There are different standards for the voltages and corresponding pitch (and gate response)...

Re: Monotribe CV control

I just had the wildest thought, that means you can theoretically manually gate the synth to allow external audio to be filtered... by itself? :O

Re: Monotribe CV control

We've been looking at this all wrong!

Note the TRRRS jack!
And though it could just be a coincidence, and Korg was lazy when making the diagram, but it looks like it goes into the ext. in jack, not sync in.
Anyone have a picture of the jacks on the pcb?

Re: Monotribe CV control

Thanks for the help guys! I took out my Dad's trusty power supply today and did some testing on my Slim Phatty so I could get a knowledge of how this stuff works... On the Slim Phatty with the power supply connected to the same ground point: Normal CV (pitch and filter cutoff) with a TS cable: Requi...

Monotribe CV control

So we all know now that Korg claims we can control our Monotribes modification free with CV over the sync jack. I am right now going to admit I don't know much about electronics and CV (my Dad is the expert, but I'm learning...) Here's what (I think) I know. I was experimenting a bit with a power su...

KingKORG and MS20 mini

The product pages are here!!! http://www.korg.com/KingKORG http://www.korg.com/MS20mini So I'm really excited about finally owning a seemingly impossible <$2000 MS20 But in the meantime I'm even more excited because of one particular feature of the KingKORG: http://i49.tinypic.com/qn0mtv.jpg (Pseudo...

Re: Questions about obscure synth terminology from the past.

I'm sorry it took me two months to respond to this but I just wanted to thank you all again. The production was a big success and I ended up just doing my best with the Slim Phatty (I do realize it's not some incapable piece of junk and I feel musically blessed to have it! ;D). As would be expected,...

Akai Pro and Alesis... remarkable similarities

So I was surfing the Akai pro website earlier, and noticed the Miniak, which for some reason I had never heard of before... can't figure out how this happened. In any case, I've also been spending a LOT of time on the Alesis website recently for various reasons, QS8 support, looking into ADAT, Vorte...
