R-8/R-70 Drum Machines worth...?

My highschool has had either an R8 or R70 for years, it's practically mint because they never use it, it's still in box, and now the music head is thinking of selling it. I do not know which one it is because all the teacher says is Human Composer (not even Rhythm Composer! ;D) and she did mention i...

Re: Tired of Diving Presets, need help

Sorry for the slow reply, but as an update, I took the time to read through the Korg X5D manual, and I am now more confident in my ability to use the synth and shape its sounds. I guess necessity straightened my head, as I really have zippo for money. In case you didn't know, I'm really not trying t...

Korg X5D OS?

Hopefully this is as simple as I hope, but I just want to know what the last OS release for the Korg X5D is. I am running two on OS 14. (it says Version 14, so I'm assuming it's the same thing...) I tried emailing Korg, but their vintage help service only covered old manuals. When I emailed them I g...

Re: Tired of Diving Presets, need help

Okay. A few things to say xD Firstly, the Juno 60 deal didn't work out... (though I found an Alpha Juno 1 for $400 on craigslist... still, besides the point) Secondly, I forgot to mention that I also have two Korg Monotrons (THE most basic of subtractive synthesis), and two "softsynths", Animoog for...

Re: Tired of Diving Presets, need help

Sounds like a smart idea, except it's monophonic. I guess beggars can't be choosers though. You can bet that I'm going to look into that for sure. At the very least though, I'm going to wait for a response from the potential Juno-60 first. This particular one would mean a lot to me to have. I'll put...

Re: Tired of Diving Presets, need help

Well, I would love to, and thanks for the advice, but you see, I'm at the point where I have very little money. I will hopefully be buying myself a Juno 60 in fact, maybe very soon. But as of this instant, where it's inconvenient to go buy my own (I have a request pending, probably won't work out th...

Re: Places other than eBay and Craigslist for synths and FX?

In Canada (maybe the US, I dunno), you can get synths from Long and McQuade fairly reasonably both new and used. I also know of Moog Audio, a music store, NOT JUST MOOGS based in toronto I believe. www.long-mcquade.com www.moogaudio.com Finally, this guy blogs about all these synths he buys/repairs,...

Re: Tired of Diving Presets, need help

Indeed, I've done more than my fair share of research and listening in my lusting for a synthesizer over the years. I have a moderate-advanced grasp on subtractive synthesis, but I can't really be sure because I really don't have any practical experience.

Re: Mini D vs. Voyager

I'd just like to say two things. My personal preference is for the minimoog Voyager, based only off of the numerous demos I've heard, music it was used in, articles I've read, etc. As I've always wished to go out there and find EITHER a D or a voyager to mess with... but sadly it's difficult, and on...

Re: Tired of Diving Presets, need help

This I can't wait for. As soon as I can get the money, I'm all there! Since I don't own these synths, they're rather gifts of circumstance, I shall make do for now. But I totally agree with you. That kind of instant control is definitely what I desire from a synth... Knobs, patch cables, sliders, th...

Tired of Diving Presets, need help

Hello! Though I am no stranger to the musical arts especially in keyboards, I am new to the world of synthesizers... as far as creating sounds and such, since I finally discovered my first (sadly, I do not own most of them, but am allowed the use of them). I currently have access to four synths... a...
