Jupiter-8 had switchable filter slope. Jupiter-6 has the multimode filter.

WTB: DX100 parts (top shell, slider cap, PNB, screws)

See the title.

Alternatively, I could use the volume slider from the PNB board, but I will have to solder it on.

Re: Alpha Juno Owners and the Decisions We Have to Make

Be careful. There seem to be two versions of the preset ROM: one that starts with Brass 1 and the other that starts with PolySynth1.

Re: Which JX to complement Alpha Juno?

Yeah, kinda late to say all this. I have the DX100 to fix up to provide me with FM needs - I want to learn how to program it myself, and with a full 6-op machine, I would get overwhelmed and download ready-made patches instead. Once I master 4-op, I will consider stepping up to a TG77. I am fascinat...

Warped DX100 shell

Now that I got my fixer-upper DX100, I have a new problem. The top of the shell seems to have warped, making it hard to put back together. Right now, I have it weighted down, but what should I do? EDIT: Screwed the shell together and blasted it. A lot less curled up now. I thought the springs were b...

Re: Collecting, eBay and Synth Economics

Does buying multiples count as "hoarding" if the synth can be poly-chained? Examples: Matrix-1000, the current Moog racks, Prophet '08. Since I started the thread that led to this thread, I might as well chime in. My synth "collection", if you can call it that, was all purchased in less than 100% co...

Re: Felt replacement on the keybed

Try taking the keybed to the nearest piano/organ repair shop, and see if they can set you up with the felt you need. Ordinary felt from like a cloth shop or something just won't cut it. I searched up the kind of felt used by piano repairmen on piano keybeds, and it comes in discs. Do they get the f...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

I think a lot of MKS-10, 30 and 100 are being bought on the cheap just for parts for other synths. Ooh, now that makes me feel better about uniting the planet modules. Getting played once in a while (10) / quite often (30) and cared for sounds like a preferable fate to being parted out. Solderman's...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

I don't think it's insane as much as pointless. Also, hoarding gear just because you're a completist drives up the price for the people who want one for what they're actually used for, which is making music. Now that you put it that way, I would feel bad buying the 50 or 70 when they would add litt...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

Noble (albeit expensive) goal if you intend to use them. I've owned the keyboard equivalents of pretty much the entire series, including a s-50 sampler, and there is enough unique sonic character to justify it. Isn't the MKS-100 based on the S-10, and the S-50 module called the S-550? At the very l...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

I'm just worried because the Alpha Juno has a great keybed.... AJuno 2 yes - similar if not the same to the D-50. I liked it that much i retro fitted it to one of my Polysixes (which have awful keybeds as standard). I parted the J2 (and J1) out. And doesn't the Polysix use the same keybed as the OB...

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

a) this is a good idea if you're a collector... GOTTA CATCH EM ALL b) this is a horrible idea if you wanted to actually use the synths in your setup (way too much overlap & having an overly complex setup will waste your time) Yes, I'm a collector at heart. I only see myself using the 30 and 80 very...

Felt replacement on the keybed

Has anyone replaced the felt on a keybed?

My XP-80 had the goop get into the felt on the bottom, causing sticky keys. Also, the felt on the top is wearing thin, making the keyboard louder.

Re: Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

So the oscillators are enough to make the difference between 70 and 80, even with the same filter? I passed on a 70 for $390 that needed a new battery because I figured the 70 would just be a cheaper sounding version of the 80 - no PWM, slower envelopes, keytrigger LFO. Also, the 80017a in the 7 and...

Collecting the entire MKS series: Insane goal?

EDIT: Yes, the general consensus is that this is insane and pointless.

The original three (10, 30, and 80) will satisfy the collector in me while still being useful.
