Re: Again: Juno or Polysix?

I notice your sig - did you sell off a lot of stuff?

Back on topic, the post about the Polysix frequency response mod has me interested in hearing a comparison of the Juno-60 and the modded Polysix somehow. Unmodded, the Juno-60 has the highs the Polysix lacks so it wins for me there.

Attaching aftertouch strip - what kind of double-sided tape?

I finally sourced an aftertouch strip for my Alpha Juno. It wasn't the original Roland one, but I plugged it in and squeezed it, and it responded just the same.

It says I need double-sided tape to attach it. What kind of double-sided tape do I use?

WTB Juno-60 front panel

I now have a Juno-60 that, although it's in great working order, is in well-worn physical condition. I could use a not-ugly front panel . There is nothing functionally wrong with the instrument aside from occasionally scratchy pots, so I'm hesitant to send it out to a service to get it refinished. E...

Re: Roland JX3P and PWM

There are two aspects of sync-PWM making it sound subtly different from regular PWM. First, in regular PWM, the amplitude decreases towards half as you approach 0/100% pulse width. In sync-PWM, there is no amplitude loss as you approach 0/100% pulse width. Second, you can't get the sound of modulati...

Re: OB-Xa - all EGs gone bad?

Yeah, check my original post because I've updated it.

Actually, the tech name-dropped you. I have an idea - maybe I have the tech get only four out of the 16 CEM3310s. That way, we can test the upper and lower trays - two voices, to see if it's really bad chips or more power supply issues.

Re: OB-Xa pot board / bender issues?

Bump. My tech said the EG chips were shorting out on the -5V rail when he tested them individually...So is this a basket case?

Re: This guy cut his Nord Lead 1 in half

Why couldn't he do this to a member of the hordes of 25-key synths out there? (Hacking off the keyboard entirely)

Re: Roland should reissue the

If Roland ever revisits analog, I'd rather see them pick up where they left off, with the Alpha Juno's oscillators and envelopes. Or, go all the way back to discrete.

Re: Open question about gear purchases..

Where's the 0% option?

I can (proudly?) say that I have bought nothing new. After all, only the XP-80, S5000, and Voyager were made within my lifetime.

At this rate, I'm not sure even Korg's new analog stuff will get me to break that trend.

Re: DX to OB-8 MIDI clock

I found my problem. Looking through the DMX's service manual, I found out the trigger pulses are +10V / 1ms, and that they recommend increasing the value of C32 or "us[ing] an external one-shot to 'stretch' the pulse", because some synths need a longer trigger pulse. Meanwhile, looking through my DR...

Re: DX to OB-8 MIDI clock

The DMX's "Click Out" is actually a "Metronome Out" which is an audio signal rather than an electric pulse needed to drive a sequencer or arpeggiator. You will need something like a Garfield Electronics MiniDoc or Modulator to drive your arpeggiators from the DMX. [youtube]https://www.youtube.com/w...

Re: DX to OB-8 MIDI clock

I apologize for hijacking this thread, but I have a related question with my DMX. Neither my SH-101 nor my Jupiter-8 seem to like the DMX's click output. When I listen to the click output directly, I hear a nice steady stream of clicks. But, the sequencer/arpeggiator only triggers for some of those ...
