Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!

190832273478 I 'd want it, but I don't want to deal with that new Global Shiping Program... :( Most likely, it would get through customs without having to pay taxes, so with that option I'd pay twice the buying price on shipping & brokering fees! If only this (and the Oberheim jacket I saw a while ...

Re: OB-Xa - power supply issues?

Steve Jones wrote:How are you measuring the battery current?
I was following the service manual's instructions - measuring across the 10K resistor while the unit has been off for over five minutes.

Re: OB-Xa - power supply issues?

More observations: - no matter how I tweaked the +15V, the -15V always read as -15.2V - the 10K resistor to the right of the battery (the one that should be used to measure the CMOS current drain according to the service manual) - I got two measurements, one of over 100mV, but all subsequent measure...

Re: OB-Xa - power supply issues?

Do you have a copy of the schematic? If you give me a connector number and pin where you are taking the reading (or a photo of the top board with the place marked) I will open one of my OBXa's and see what is there. Connector K, pin 1 - what should be the 5.5 V AC according to the table in the serv...

Re: OB-Xa - power supply issues?

Can you post a pic of your schematic and mark the point where you are seeing that waveform? Can't really follow, but it was on the upper control board, after the connector to the power supply board, the joint right before the first resistor. Can't really remember the scale settings on the oscillosc...

Re: OB-Xa - power supply issues?

New PSB installed. Still not working.

Here's a picture of the oscilloscope output on the 5.5 V AC:

Re: Korg Polysix Arpeggiator

On the topic of disappointing arpeggiators, I can say that the JP-8080 arpeggiator is screwy. With "hold" on, changing notes will not restart the pattern. This has the nasty side effect of causing octave basslines to flip upside-down, and big multi-octave runs to not sound as expected. Also, the ran...

Re: FS: Roland hs-80/alpha juno2 keybed w/springs, keys,cont

Some of the keys are actually non-working, but a good cleaning may fix them. I should have clarified this earlier, but I assumed people would be more interested in buying single keys or springs from it. If you're parting it out, then I'd like to get the aftertouch strip. It can't be less functional...

Re: FS: Roland hs-80/alpha juno2 keybed w/springs, keys,cont

I have a full keybed that I am trying to get rid of. I am not sure what all this is compatible with, but make an offer. I can split this up too. Indiana, USA Did the aftertouch on it work well? My Alpha Juno 2's keybed's aftertouch isn't fully functioning. I think that keybed was also used in D-50.

Re: What makes the Minimoog sound so good?

I've also heard the "Nintendo sound" argument a few times with analog synths. Even in a huge prog band like Dream Theater, Jordan Rudess was being mocked by John Petrucci (tongue in cheek of course) for using too much "nintendo sounds". That is Moogs and other analog synth sounds. "Nintendo Sound" ...

Re: Alpha Juno dead aftertouch - replacement?

if you have some time and patience you can repair aftertouch in your ju2 :) aftertouch sensor is getting oxidated during all the years. remove keyboard and all the keys, remove metal strip and rubber. now you have to clean 2 brass conductors, strips, metal foil with acetone or sth similar. put it b...

Re: a synth to compliment a JX-3P

I know what you're talking about. I've felt that strings are probably the JX-3P's weakness. As others have said, the Polysix and the Juno series are excellent, both for strings and for pairing up with JX-3P. I would say the Polysix has a greater variety of string sounds - in addition to the chorus f...

Re: Alpha Juno issues - aftertouch and one dead output

I got around to it today. Mono output: I accidentally nudged capacitor C3 on the chorus board, and the dead output sprang to life. A little nudging of C2 and C3 caused various combinations of dead and alive outputs. Going to have to be careful re-assembling next time. Aftertouch: The upper strip see...
