Re: Juno 106 acting funny when sequenced by an MPC 2000XL

Thanks for the adive. That pocket filter looks like it would do the trick, but I found the solution thru the MOC forum website. The MPC has filters for the MIDI in where you can tell it what to let through and what gets blocked. I basically filtered everything except for "notes" coming from the Juno...

Re: Juno 106 acting funny when sequenced by an MPC 2000XL

Another small update: I researched the issue for quite a while, and i read one thread mentioning that the Juno is probably sending all its sysex info to the MPC, and the MPC simply can't handle the load. It suggests to filter the Midi in signal on the MPC to exclude any sysex info. (all I really nee...

Re: Can MPC 2000 play 2000XL Disks ?

I believe a 2000 XL can "read" wav files off a standard disk, while the regular 2000 can only read Akai's proprietary file format.

Re: Juno 106 acting funny when sequenced by an MPC 2000XL

Just wanted to add: If I play quick semitones out of the juno (as master) into the 2000 and back to the juno, most notes play , even all of them most of the time. If I record 1 long note for a full 2 measures, it'll usually cut right away. If on the other hand I play a long note on the Poly 800, int...

Juno 106 acting funny when sequenced by an MPC 2000XL

I'm trying to setup a small home studio with an MPC 2000XL (as my main sequencer and drum machine) and a few synths. When I try to use the Juno 106 as the master, when I record a sequence and it comes back to the 106 (from the MPC) some notes are cut. Any idea why that would be? I tried with my Poly...

Juno 106 issues

After the synth heats up for a good 45 min to an hour, some keys sound really messed up. Actually, at first it sounds pretty awesome. Almost like the cutoff is out of whack and starts quite high then slowly drops down to the level it's supposed to be at. After a while though, it gets worse. Sometime...

Older synth setup, Midi question used with MMT-8

I'm using an older MMT-8 sequencer to sequence a few synths. My question is... I'm using my Juno 106 as my main controller, sending to the MMT8, and back to the juno or a couple of other synths. Is there a way that I can play the Juno but choose with synth the sound comes from? Right now I have to r...

Midi synth with arpeggiators? (computerless)

I have a small setup with a few synths and a simple (mmt-8) sequencer. I'm looking for a simple to use midi keyboard that I can use with the setup. I don't have anything plugged into a PC, so I'm hoping I can find a decent controller that has builtin arpeggiators. No need for aftertouch or weighted ...

Re: Anyone still using an Alesis MMT-8? question about copyi

Page 9 of the manual says if you copy a part to itself, it doubles in length, so just don't set the length ahead of time, and copy the appropriate number of multiples. Awesome. Thank you. I checked the manual but I was focusing on how to do so with the track itself rather than the whole part. But c...

Anyone still using an Alesis MMT-8? question about copying

I traded some old gear for an Alesis MMT-8. I started messing around with it and it's quite simple to use, however I have a question. When working in a part (that has 8 tracks), if I set the length at 32 measures, is it possible to only play on the synth for say, 4 measures, then copy those 4 measur...

Re: Setting up multiple synths, sequencer and drum machine n

Thank you for the link. I'll keep my eyes open. I don't have the funds for one right now, but at least I know what I'm going for. I'll wait a little until I find something that works. Another question for you guys, regarding my Roland MSQ-100. Simple enough sequencer and I did get it to sequence 1 o...

Re: Setting up multiple synths, sequencer and drum machine n

Great. Thanks again. I'll probably do that then. I still have my Roland MSQ-100 at home, so I'll plug a couple of synths through it to get a feel of how everything's supposed to work. Those MPCs look perfect for what I need. I'll keep an eye out on the 2000. There are a few local sales for the MPC-5...

Re: Talk me out of getting a Polysix

I had a Polysix. Wasn't for me.

A little too organic for my taste. I eventually traded it for a Juno 106 and haven't regretted it since.

Re: Setting up multiple synths, sequencer and drum machine n

Master Controller - you play all the notes on the Juno - for all instruments, even the drum machine. You record the sequences in the Sequencer, not the Juno. Each instrument is set to a separate MIDI channel, and the let the Sequencer translate the channel the Juno is transmitting on to the channel...

Re: Setting up multiple synths, sequencer and drum machine n

You have a lot of options depending on how you go. Thankfully with the older synths you'll have MIDI THRU available, but I'm not sure how much latency would be incurred with that (it's dependent on the synth's implementation). So you could easily run a straight chain like: sequencer => IN : drum ma...
