reload your patches.
I've seen many synths that have lost all their patch memory do really strange things like you have described until you reload it.

Re: Korg Ds8 won't save global settings
Looking at the service manual, it appears to have two RAM chips in it. A 8k and a 2k chip. I bet the 2k chip is where global settings are probably saved, might not be getting battery voltage to it or it's defective. ALso could be a data line to signal write mode to it.. if it doesn't get a Write sig...

Re: Need a Librarian Program for DX7, and more...
If you can get a Windows PC the very best to use is DX Manager for most the FM synths. That and there is a very good GUI made with Ctrlr to edit sounds on the TX7 that gives just about every single parameter to tweak in realtime.. great for those fat detuning phases. I have a half patch memory worki...

Re: Oberheim Matrix 6r help please, sending random cc data
maybe check to see if a pedal input is assigned to volume control?
try to disable all local pedal controls?
just a guess.. maybe a bad input is causing spurious voltages that the cpu thinks is a pedal attached and being moved.

Re: Yamaha CS-50 not playing notes
but there is not yet any definition of what "this one appears to need". that's what he's looking for. scoping and such is always the best idea, but surely someone else knows whether the CMOS could be at fault, or it's definitely a duff KAS, or something else? it may take a while to get to the front...

Re: Yamaha CS-50 not playing notes
You won't know anything until you get a schematic in one hand and a scope probe in the other.. then start checking the outputs and inputs around the chips. There are so many components besides the chips that can cause issues. It's going to cost at least $250 or more for a tech to get in there and st...

Re: Really want this ESQ-1! has issues, looking for guidance
I'd kick myself in the a*s if I bought a half functional ESQ-1 for $180+ (I just now saw it on eBay)
You should pass on that one as others have suggested

Re: Yamaha DX7 buttons not responding???
Are you sure the row of 4 switches above them work? They are the other 4 switches out if the usual group of 8 using the same select line signal as the one you are having problems with. Here's a link to schematics to see: http://homepages.abdn.ac.uk/mth192/pages/dx7/manuals/dx7-circuit.pdf I suspect ...

I'm not sure which one was released 1st.
I consider the Poly61M as a MIDI mod/refit.
AFAIK, the Poly 800 was Korg's 1st synth that came with MIDI in it's initial production run.

Re: 4051 mux failure? MC-505
if it helps any, I did confirm both pots are connected to the +5v and G each. also, their wipers have clean connection to pins 2 & 4 on the 4051. So all connections are good on the pots side to the IC. Here's a pic of the board for reference. Huge board.. it barely fits on my Panavise. http://i61.ti...

4051 mux failure? MC-505
I have a roland MC-505 that developed an issue where the Mixer Fader's for Parts 2 & 3 will not operate. I can see all the others move the little GUI faders on the LCD screen, but 2/3 will not move at all when I move the actual sliding pot. The suspected 4051 8 channel mux/demux'r services Mixer Fad...

Re: hidden cost of using ebay
I never said I hate eBay, where did I say that? I did relate that I get frustrated with all the fees and rules that work against sellers. My point was to be sure to know exactly what all the fees are and what they apply to.. to be sharp when selling. Some certain items eBay will dictate shipping cos...

Re: hidden cost of using ebay
I thought this was going to be about "hidden" ebay fees. Like how they take more of your money thru your shipping dollars.. ebay fee's are suppose to be about 10%, but when you add in your costs to ship, it's more, like 13%. ebay and paypal should be removing the fees on shipping costs when you purc...

Re: Help me to ID the synth
LOL.
Wow. Def Leppard was using that POS??
I had one of those back around '98. Hated it.
Maybe he's using it as a controller mainly.. like I ended up doing with my JV30, instead of using the voices from it.. since it still looks like he only has a MIDI cable and the power cable hooked up to it.
