Re: Roland S-750 - Worth it?

It appears to have 4MB installed, Should I go dig up some SIMM Memory and max it to 18MB?

Is there a way to install a mod so I can load the OS off a memory card such as an SD, or Compactflash?

Should I buy a CGA to VGA adapter?

Roland S-750 - Worth it?

Ok, so I found a Roland S-750 at the local music shop for $450 and I put a deposit on it. Its just the unit, comes with the OS discs, but this morning I get a call from the music shop, and the shop owner had a "surprise" for me. A box, packed to the brim with floppies full of samples, utilities and ...

Re: din sync cable

Most if not all DIN MIdi cables will have all 5 wires plugged in, hence why I can run my kawai k3 and my DX21 through my yamaha MD8 mixer and it doesn't disturb the sync at all. have fun. edit: It's midi Sync, not Dinsync, my bad. Keep the two seperate an you'll be cool, but the cable,s are interch...

Yes, This looks like a way easier thing, plus it looks like I can write some custom knobs for other synths as well :3

Plus its inexpensive as well.

Re: Kawai K3 - Analog Knobs hack?

The problem I see is you can adjust them individually, but if you are looking for 1 knob to adjust all 6 together, then you need a data wheel/ encoder modded in and use it like the data +/- buttons, but with the encoder's rotary action. The VCF's are being adjusted by the CPU for each voice.. proba...

Steve Miller - Fly Like an Eagle

Does anyone know which synths they used on this track?

and do you think I could get the same effect using my Kawai K3 with a nice effects reverb on it?

I took a nice peek inside, It is doable , but the K3 is a rare beast here in Canada so I won't be messing with it.

Jay, try going into sampling mode with audio monitoring turned on, and see if you get the audio via S/PDIf.
Oh! I read that completely wrong. I didn't even realize he was talking about this one:

Kawai K3 - Analog Knobs hack?

I was thinking, since the Analog filters are CPU controlled, I could simply set them to 100% on and wire inline a set of potentiometers to reduce the individual voltages, or is there more to it? I really like the nice punchy bass she gives me, but I think with a few extra knobs It'll be a formidable...

Re: Roland S760 as ghetto ADC

Hey all, just wondering if there's a way to route the analog input directly to the SPDIF out in realtime on one of these? I just want a direct signal conversion, no filters necessary. I'm not entirely sure if that's even possible, but I do have something you can pick up on ebay that does that for a...

Re: In my DX21, Replaced the DAC, Still no sound

Well, I ordered the YM2151, it should be here in a few weeks, if it doesn't work, I'll simply pick up the YM2164 from syntaur, if that doesn't work, I'll be parting my keyboard out on the forums here for people here and I'll upgrade to a DX11.

In my DX21, Replaced the DAC, Still no sound

Alright, so I replaced the DAC in my DX21 to much discontent, I do believe that the YM2164 FM Chip is in fact broken in mine, Would anybody know if I could Swap her out for a Much cheaper and easier to obtain YM2151 FM Chip? or will I run into problems with the undocumented registers? I checked the ...
