what synth? old rave bass noise...

I've heard these a lot in a lot of the old UK and US rave music, techno, hard house etc. any ideas what kind of synth made this? or is it a sample? I've tried with the obvious, a square wave with a filter envelope, it gets close but the one here has an unusual harmonic eIIOWW sound to it that I coul...

when will this trend ever end!?! sampled voices for melody.

RANT  This is directed at the dance music in the charts. Got a bit sick of it in 2014, then it just sort of carried on into 2015 and I'm still hearing it now with dj snake etc. Just STOP IT! The technique was quite cool at the time of the emu samplers in the 1980s obviously. I do realize it...

Re: have you ever bought the same peice of gear 3 times?

I guess in general it's quite bad selling gear only to buy it again a couple of times, you'll always lose out on money some how.

have you ever bought the same peice of gear 3 times?

by that I mean,

You bought it,
then you sold it,
then you bought it again and sold it again
but by the THIRD time, you bought it with the intention of keeping it forever because you regretted selling it the last 2 times

Re: Best (or least worst) vintage samplers

my fave sampler without a doubt is the akai s900/s950, I've owned many in the past, now I just have 1 s900. great quick workflow (if you load up a template disk with all your keygroups ready) plus it sounds great!

Re: Casio FZ1

I regret selling my FZ10M (rackmount of FZ1) there was a (possibly top secret) secret thing you could do on it to make it sound gritty like an SP12/1200, I think it was something to do with a loopstart point and changing the value from 0 to 1 ? no idea why it would make it do what it does but it boo...

Re: semi faulty Pulse width on roland sh101

Here's a link to the service manual. Just undo what you did and find the pw trimmer and adjust it. http://www.synthfool.com/docs/Roland/SH_Series/Roland_SH-101_Servicemanual/ thanks. But I remember finding that PW trimmer and it all it didn't adjest the pulsewidth to the thinner sound than I should...

semi faulty Pulse width on roland sh101

ok I tried this other forum but no one knew/cared. basically, this 101 which is now out of my hands... the friend who has it might be able to fix it him self as long as it's nothing too techy and whipping out a soldering iron. Basically, the pulse width didn't get narrow enough... compared to my MC2...
