Re: Jx8p sysex dump with midi ox help!

I can't seem to get it to preform a dump, so its one at a time. Also in the JX8p, set omni off and system exclusive on. If someone can tell us how to do a dump that would be great! I would love to try some other peoples patches, but most people upload them as all 32 from a dump, so i cant seem to g...

Re: playing drum sounds on Roland 1080

Set the drum machine to transmit on channel 10. Assign the pads to the note-numbers you want to trigger.

Re: korg dss1 ever had one?

No-one has mentioned waveform drawing on the DSS. Not particularly useful, but hours of fun to be had.

Re: Cost Effective Synth for messing around with

I really don't understand why people think the MS-20 is so complicated. It's got a perfectly standard monosynth architecture pre-patched right into it, which means you can start simple and work your way up from there. Apologies if you misunderstood, I'm just not convinced that the MS' are great sta...

Re: Yamaha RX-11 bit rate?

The wave ROM is 8-bit, but the converters are 13 bit (I think). So likely both answers are correct.

Both. It's a Eurorack (physically at least, who knows about power) module for a modular system. It has CV ins and outs.

Re: Cost Effective Synth for messing around with

I'm not saying it's a bad synthesizer (though I owned one for a while and found it not particularly to my taste.) I'm just talking about potential as an introductory/learning synthesizer - certainly most of the basics are there, but the MS-20 Mini has a second oscillator, ring modulation, and semi-...

Re: Cost Effective Synth for messing around with

If I was in your situation, I'd be looking at something new, rather than vintage. In addition to the above mentioned, you should have a look at Korg MicroKorg XL and MiniKorg, Novation BassStation 2, and the UltraNova and MiniNova, and Roland Gaia and the JD-Xi. Spend a couple of hours in a music sh...

Re: Cheapo Rackmount Synths?

Yamaha TG-55 can be had cheaply.
Roland S-330.
JV 1010 in the 1/2 rack format, and the Akai 1/2 rack modules.
Korg 03Rw.
In Europe, you might find a Cheetah MS-6, and from memory, there are some Elka and Solton racks floating around.
I think all the other budget bargains have been listed.
