Re: 3-Oscillator Per Voice Polysynths??

Well Elka Syntex has 3 oscillators as well and fairly complex. Also are you referring to only true analogs or VA as well as you can find a lot of them with 3 osc : All Novation K/S station and Supernova, Alesis ION i think and Access Viruses. I never seen a Synthex with 3 oscillators. Mine only has...

Re: 3-Oscillator Per Voice Polysynths??

If you count sub-oscillators, the Akai AX 80 has two DCOs and a sub. I think cost would have been a major factor in the development. Sub-oscs not allowed - that's cheating :-) They need to be endowed with three free-running oscillators... Fair enough. DCOs shouldn't count, either. What the eff good...

Edit: The Electron Analog Four, two DCOs + two subs also springs to mind.

Funny that. I remember that's what was said about the Juno 106 back around '84, '85.

If you don't have a flight case for it, either invest in one, or rent one at the site(s).

Re: War of the Waves

PPG Wave 2.2 /end of discussion You're right, of course, but I didn't include the PPGs - the dynamic wavetable puts them in a different class - all the others have static waveforms. What about SCI Prophet VS? It has static waves. Damn. I should have listed an "other" option. Vector Synthesis means ...

Re: War of the Waves

I have both the mighty D-50 and the SQ-80. Haven't used either in a couple years, but I'd pick the D-50. It's easier to work with and has thousands of great sounds easily transferred via MIDI. I got a disk with loads of soundbanks with my SQ-80 too, so I'm pretty well covered on both. But the SQ80 ...

Re: Whats your current computer setup like?

Can I ask. Why are apple/ mac laptops considered by some to be more suitable for music then pc & other laptops & android tablets? Personally, because Apple discontinued PC support for Logic in 2002. I forgot to add, 2012 2.93 i7 iMac 27", 8g RAM, Logic 9, Cubase 7.5, Reason 6; Halion 4, Korg Legacy...

Re: War of the Waves

SQ-80 easily bests the ESQ-1, it's just more of everything. I owned one for about 15 years, only sold it to free up space. Why no other mfr has managed to make such an intuitive knobless programming interface I just don't understand. The floppy drive could store sysex dumps for your other gear, the...

War of the Waves

There seems to be a lot of love for the hybrid 80s' Wave synths, and with good reason - they all sound good, and offer a combination of "digital" and "analog" sounds. Keeping the subtractive synthesis method made them accessible to keyboardists who were scratching their heads at the the DX family, w...

Re: Korg DSS-1 multisound capabilities...?

Shouldn't be a problem as far as mapping samples on the DSS - the only thing is does the 626 sequencer have control of gate times?

You can do good things with GarageBand on your MacBook Pro - and if you upgrade to Logic, you can load the project(s) in Logic.
