Re: Roland Boutique

Center piece from photo looks like a cheap AKAI MIDI controller. No red words on shiny black smudge surface aka new JD-X series please.

Re: Yamaha Reface

Cannot really blame others for their non-existence. You might have brought up stuff in the past when you didn't exist before.

Re: Yamaha Reface

Good? I felt that it was underwhelming at the hands of Mr Katsunori UJIIE.

Re: Yamaha Reface

Yes. Just like what they did with the Tenori-On. Had to keep it small I accept that. For the Reface - arggh, why could they not just use two standard MIDI ports?? Anyway, moot point. Not buying lest it be a DX at good secondhand price. https://tonnemansblog.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/tenori-on-midi...

Re: Yamaha Reface

After looking through Reface demos online, to me: - I wished they coupled two into one, e.g. CS and YC, DX and CP for more value - I speculate there could be "beefier" versions depending on commercial success of these mini mobile keyboards - I feel that Yamaha demonstrator Bert is pretty good but th...

I read that it is 1.9kg without batteries. How portable would you consider that to be?

This chap has lots of retro videos. Maybe you can get a better idea visiting his YouTube Channel?

Re: Jp-8000 vs Blofeld vs An1x vs Elka EK-22

I have owned the JP-8000 and still have the AN1X and Blofeld. No experience with the Elka. I would say for warm pads and atmospheric sounds in one machine - take the Blofeld. Maybe you can put in an analogue filter somewhere along the audio chain.

Not sure how digital modern my setup is. I feel the Juno-106 sounds well (as in stand its own) in the mix of things.

Re: Pads and leads ... irreconcilable differences ?

Agree with assessment of CS_TBL. Leads also tend to cut better in a mix and is more "forefront".

Separately, I have a harder time distinguishing between Pads and Strings.

Re: Roland Modular

I was just asking where are the CV I/Os for System-1M?
Stab Frenzy wrote:

Both. It's a Eurorack (physically at least, who knows about power) module for a modular system. It has CV ins and outs.
