Re: Playing synths: do you play what you like to hear ?

Ask the question the other way round. I listen to all sorts but I dislike psychedelic-kind of loud, R&B or Jazz music. What I dislike seemed causal and related to what I intend/incline to play. Hence, I would think the same vice-versa.

Must it be analogue or something? I thought Blofeld did well for pad voices. Maybe Blofeld (circa 2007) not old enough?

Re: How do you decide a synth is not for you ?

Besides a limited 'studio" space, I tell myself I got only so many hours that can be dedicated to synth playing and one pair of hands. Hence, I let go of gear that I do not foresee myself using for a long time. I liked all that I acquire but some has to go at some point in time.

I was playing some mangled low-fi sound from my Korg Microsampler. Consider?

Re: Juno 106 dead keys

Use another MIDI keyboard (plus in via external MIDI) to check if the voices sound. If they do, the voice chips work and most likely you need to whip up your multimeter to trace broken connection(s) on your PCB. Did mine, now it works a treat.

Waldorf Blofeld - I used this extensively, however digital sounding it might be. Matrix menu worked for me.

Re: About buying Roland MC909

Generally, I do not record my music, just jam as a synthesizer enthusiast. I used the MC-909 mostly for it's drum beats and some bass tones. The faders worked a treat when morphing from one scene to another.

I have the SRX-05 and yeah it's a little pricey for what it does. Try to find a used one.

Re: Elektron hinting at something new

I watched most of his videos. Cenk is at a high-level of competence/performance when dealing with Elektron boxes. He worked wonders with them. Cool guy. This might be a one-off. He also might not be so good at handling keys. Yes it definitely feels off beat but it brought to mind how machine-assiste...
