Re: Audio Editing Software
WAVpad Editor is pretty good. It's freeware. I like it better than Audacity.
Ocenaudio is also freeware, but it's buggy and missing some basic features. But for certain things it's easier.

Re: 10 things I wish Software Developers would stop in 2014
Please stop putting VST(i)'s into installers. Just zip or 7zip them and let the user put the contents into the plugins folder. Anybody who doesn't know how to put VST(i)'s manually into a plugins folder has no business being near a computer. Installers get corrupted during transit, can transport mal...

Re: BreakTweaker: Future Beat Machine
That looks super impressive to me. It has literally ALL of the features that I can presently only get from several different forms of software and hardware in a time-consuming manner. They really distilled everything down into a nice little package. My only criticism is that the preset content sound...

Re: Midi Controlled Trance Gate Plugin?
You might be able to get the same effect using a NoiseGate VST that has a key input (sidechain). Send a drum machine pattern of your choice into the key input and it should open the gate rhythmically in a similar fashion when set up correctly. It's not as easy to do with software as with hardware th...

Try MP3val and the MP3val GUI frontend. I have found that freeware app very valuable in fixing naff MP3s. give it a go. it could help.

Re: Which samplers auto-split and MIDI assign?
Yeah, I mean auto-slice loops into 16 pieces and then assign a MIDI note number to each slice to trigger it. The MPC2000XL does it. I'm wondering about other samplers that do it. Surprisingly, not much software seems to do it. It's useful for certain kinds of BreakBeat and Instrumental HipHop and DnB.

Which samplers auto-split and MIDI assign?
I know the AKAI MPC 2000XL can. But can any of the others do that?
I am curious because it's a specific technique to certain music subgenres.
Any ideas?

Re: synths: more with less OR less with more?
some of my best work was done very fast only using the cheapest, lowest, gear I could find. I got lucky with a Casio CZ-5000, a Zoom 1202, and an HR-16 Drum machine mixed thru cheap radioshack mixers onto a Sony minidisc for song editing. After I discovered computers and VST(I)'s, I slowed down a lo...

Digitech Synth Bass. It can't do a lot, but what it does, it does great! Revivify crappy keyboards with that!

Re: Name some underrated/hated synths that you like
Casio VZ-10M rackmount with XLR output! great modulation responsiveness and assignability. Polarity switching of vibrato and tremolo. multiple detuned layers of shrill phase-mod or fm sounds. It sounded like Jan Hammer's best synths at certain times.

Zoom R8 Suggestions Comments and Instructions?
Hello friends, I just recently got a Zoom R8 Sampler. It's great and I have a manual but it's taking some time to learn. Please post any helpful info you have about how to use the Room R8 or R16 or R24. Even if it's just your own special techniques, still, please post. I need something more than a P...
