Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

That makes sense. I did buy a copy of SP, I just didn't know if Syntaur was just distributing it without any official permission, like the rom sellers on eBay. By the way, I borrowed a disposal Toughbook from work to test. They have a removable floppy, so I didn't really know how well they would wor...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

Does the HxC software do some very low level access on the drive that it can't do over USB? Basically this. For FAT to work as a standard it specifies track, sector etc. While all PC people used to think of HD 3.5 in floppies and 1.44mb, they were different capacities on other devices. My Amiga wri...

Re: What instrument is my avatar?

No idea, but if you zoom in, down the right side you have:

clap
symbol
?????
bass
snare
mix

So obviously some kind of drum synth.

Re: Behringer's Mini Moog

Is this something they actually said they are doing, or is this just Behringer baiting the competition like the Behringer Odyssey from two years ago a month before the Korg Odyssey was released, or the Behringer analog drum machine proposed the week the Arturia DrumBrute was released?

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

Does it have to be a hard wired floppy? I copied my TX16W library a couple of years ago. Used a Dell USB floppy drive. The only trouble I had was finding one that could read DD disks (most are HD only). I've no further use for the drive, if you want it? No, USB floppies (of which I have a few) won'...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

Well, I'm planning to do it, but I need to get a machine with a hard wired floppy and I need to also buy me a HxC floppy for my mirage. Hopefully in the next few months, I also haven't made floppies of all those files I collected, but eventually I'd like to set up a little Mirage archive. A lot of t...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?

I have most of the original mirage disks in mirage format as well as ~100 others. Unfortunately at the moment I haven't gotten setup to rip them to files, so they're all just disks. I've also downloaded a bunch of disks that I've found on the internet. I zipped them up here if anyone wants to play w...

Re: 1U? A-station or Virus Rack?

Personally I prefer the Novation VA stuff to the Virus. Mainly because I find all of the Access instruments to be counter-intuitive. But I think I prefer the Novation sound as well. I've got my KS Rack to do excellent SH-101, OB Matrix 6 (not OBX unfortunately!) and Yamaha CS series type tones. I w...

Re: how many versions of MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT ?

FUrthermore I got running BOTH AT THE SAME TIME in the same machine -- LPT port MOTU and USB port motu. So, currently having 16 input and output ports with MOTU, plus 2 MIDI ports thanks for 2 soundcards. 18 ports total. However which kind of lots of USB troubles there are? Another useful trick on ...

Re: 1U? A-station or Virus Rack?

Yeah, you're right. I re-read the Manual and it is kind of confusing. First they say that the rack has a third oscillator (so, I assumed a third) and in the later chapter it appears that that third one is the Sub-oscillator. 2 Osc's, Sub and Noise. And again you're right about the demo's... not so ...

Re: 1U? A-station or Virus Rack?

First off.... The Virus has 3 Oscillators. You can access it through the OSCILLATOR EDIT page. I have a Virus Kb which has the first 2 available directly on the frontpanel. The third one can be accessed through the menu pages. According to Virus Rack manual this is the case too for that unit. I abs...

1U? A-station or Virus Rack?

mulling a last slot on my rack that is 1U high. I've been contemplating the following: Wavestation SR Ensoniq MR Rack Access Virus Rack (not XL) Novation A-Station So here's the thing. I know exactly what I'll get out of the Wavestation, having had other Wavestations, and I quite like it. The Ensoni...

[...] The limitation for a beginner is until you load a sample, they won't make a noise.
