Re: Would you buy a CS80 if re-released?

Being that the CS80 weighs over 200lbs, no, I would not want one.

I wouldn't want a synth that I can't pick up and carry by myself.

Mac USB3 compatible MIDI Interfaces?

Is anyone connecting a synth, via MIDI, to a newer Mac computer with USB 3 ports and OS X Mavericks? If so, what MIDI interface are you using, that actually works correctly? For example, M-AUDIO states, on their website, that ALL of their USB 2 MIDI interfaces, including their infamous MIDISports, a...

Re: that sequential circuits font

Nice font! Never noticed the BSG connection though. http://i59.tinypic.com/35jyqsn.jpg Oh yeah! Check this Battlestar girl out (Athena)! She has gone modular. There was analog synthesis on the Galactica itself, and strapped to Athena's leg. Rumor has it, Dave Smith and Roger Lynn based the Te...

+1 on the Swifter! I use it on my Trak. Plus some unused, empty pillow cases, laid over the synth, if I go three weeks or a month without using it.

Re: DSI PRO 2

I guessed correctly about the awesome sequencer! Dave even called something about the synth, "awesome" in his video. Don't remember now, what it was.. Actually, a lot of stuff is awesome about it. :D I like how animated Dave gets with his hands, during his videos! I knew this synth would be pretty c...

[...]What do folks think is a reasonable price for it, just out of curiosity? [...] I recently missed out on one that was priced at 2,500 Euros. This is what I would consider "reasonable", maybe 3,000 Euros if it´s a posh colour. I wouldn´t kick one out of bed at 1,500 Euros either. Stephen So reas...

Re: SCI Six Trak - Battery Replacement Nightmare

I have a Multi-Trak. It uses the same battery for memory retention as the Six-Trak. What you did wrong was removing the existing battery, before exporting the programs. Once that battery is removed from the circuit, BAM, you've just lost all the programs from the synth's memory. After replacing the ...

Re: Synton Syrinx #1

I am not going to argue anything. I never stated that I thought my VA synth was better "all around" than the true analog Syrinx. I did state, that it would be funny, if even one sound that came out of my synth, was mistaken for one coming from the Syrinx. I thought that it might be able to make some...

Re: Synton Syrinx #1

Blah, blah, blah if you don't agree with the price don't buy one. Sure it's a little overpriced like most vintage synths, but It's rare and unique. Deal with it The demo video reminded me of my synth. I answered a question that was asked about it and attempted to discussed the potential of doing so...

Re: Synton Syrinx #1

The most idiosyncratic sounds of the Syrinx are produced by running signals into the resonator *and* the low-pass filter simultaneously, either in serial or in parallel mode. That makes for a huge difference and that´s a lot more than just having either an LPF or an HPF or a bandpass/notch filter a...

Re: Synton Syrinx #1

Does the DarkStar also have a resonator? I can´t remember anymore... Stephen I assume by, resonator, you're probably talking about a band-pass filter? The Dark Star has a 12db/octave filter, with three different type settings for low-pass, band-pass and hi-pass. The resonance, of which, can be modu...

Re: Synton Syrinx #1

So, Jupiter-8 price territory, for an obscure 80's monosynth. I watched a couple videos of it in action, and the demonstrated weird sounds made me think of my $200 Dark Star.. Granted, a fully analog version of my Dark Star, with a keyboard. Still not something I would be willing to pay $8500 for, i...

How many of the "classical" instruments in this one are synths ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emuAVTtHf9U There are plenty of "classic" hot bodies in that video! BIN for $1600 more than a recent Wine Country restored Prophet 10 (which was $5000). Seller says "don't worry about the cost". It is the nicest P5 Wine Country has seen in ages. Bargain at $6595! This one is gonna sell, I can feel it!
