That's a good price, I'll watch out for one. There are a few Orbits out there at the moment.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Rack/Module Recommendations
The Nord 4 Lead is certainly on the wants list, but I'm thinking sub £100 units at the moment, just for a mess about.

Phil

Rack/Module Recommendations
I've enjoyed playing around with some rack units and a module recently, and would like to try out a few more. The rack units I currently have were quite cheap, and worth owning to add to my collection and have a play about with. Any recommendations for rack units /modules to try out? A list of some ...

Re: New synth from Nord coming :-P
So it's basically a cut-down NL2x at twice the price Nope, only about $250 more street in USA and $500 less than NL4 I don't think we have the equivalent of the NAMM in England, which would be an excellent place to check out all the latest offerings NAMM is not for normal humans...dealers, industry...

More External Control?
I used to spend ages creating sounds, then tweaking them on my SX2000, CS-01, Juno 6, but not so much these days. The Triton, for example, takes an age to create a new sound, having to scroll backwards and forwards through the menus. The desktop editors certainly make this process easier, but it mea...

Re: New synth from Nord coming :-P
Looks interesting. Alas, I don't think we have the equivalent of the NAMM in England, which would be an excellent place to check out all the latest offerings. Interesting opening comment on the Nord site " with a simplified yet hugely powerful front panel interface ". Would be interesting to see "si...

Re: Films - Which Synth?
There is a sticky thread on synths in films. IIRC, Queen mostly used Oberheim (OB-Xa?) on the Flash Gordon soundtrack. EDIT: I thought it was a sticky thread, but it is not. Here is the tread: http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32984 2nd EDIT: I just performed this search on VSE:...

Films - Which Synth?
Just flicking through the television channels, looking for something decent to watch, and noticed the 1980 Flash Gordon film was on.
I've seen it a few times, but forgot that it contained some good synth tracks and infills.
Anybody have and idea of what synths were used?
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: King Korg or Nord Lead 4?
I do fancy a Nord myself, but find anything less than 61 keys too limiting these days, so I'd go for the rack version.
Also takes up less space and is a little cheaper.
Kind regards,
Phil

Re: Swapping out keybeds.
Once upon a time "keybeds" were freely available from suppliers such as Maplin (in England), but no longer. I was after one recently, but couldn't find them anywhere. I also tried an Internet search, but all I get are computer keyboards, despite trying many descriptions. As such, I am sure many woul...

Rack Case, Need to Support Modules?
I have only ever had two items in a rack case before, and just bolted them from the front. I have, however, just built a 6U case which I am starting to populate. By the time I get all 6 spaces filled I expect there will be some weight on the front rails. I appreciate that the weight of individual mo...

Re: I need a rack. Any recommendations?
I've just completed my Rast rack, and will be populating it shortly. Came to about £25 all in, which isn't bad considering how smart it looks, and I did pay little more for the fittings, rather than getting the cheapest. I've left it in its original finish. The wood is a bit soft and marks easy, but...

Re: Favorite Stringer?
How about an E-mu Proteus 2, an orchestral synth which may have the sound you are looking for. There are some examples on YouTube. Last one I saw went for a shade over £80, about $115. They are, of course, rack mount however. The Solina is an incredible sound, though I have not touched one since the...

Re: Why do you use the Synthesizer you use most?
I used to have my DX7II on almost daily, then I moved onto a Korg X5D. Most of my keyboards were packed away when the family came along, but I recently set up a 3 tier stand in the "computer room". I now have a Korg Triton LE on tier one, and have put shelves on the other two tiers which I am slowly...

I take it you've tried the obvious Jean-Michel Jarre Oxygene and Equinoxe albums?
