Re: Elektron to replace... Everything?

Yeah. What's up with that. It's like some software controller manufacturer bought them out, to ruin their handmade equipment business. Elektron was still quality 8 or 9 years ago.

Re: I'm getting a Machinedrum UW, is the Drive or TM-1 worth

The TM 1 comes with it from some places when it's new. You need the TM 1 because it makes the connection to your computer, it also works with other Elektron gear.

Re: ASR-10 question

If you get it with no memory is that the same as the 2megs that came standard with it? I am trying to remember if that memory leaves when you expand it. You really are losing out if you don't have the expanded RAM. Here are some reasons why: Without the additional RAM your sample time for stereo is ...

Re: ENSONIQ ASR-10 SCSI HELP

Well there is not a controller for SCSI that I am aware of, in the manual the load device can be any from SCSI 0 thru SCSI 7. There is another manual that has to do with SCSI specifically. I found it here: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCYQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2F...

Re: Roland TR-505 vs TR-626

Yamaha RX11 is also pretty good. Individual outs, MIDI, trigger clock. The Casio RZ-1 is good for its sampler, and some but not all of the onboard sounds, I thought. And you still get individual outs. The 505 is weak, IMO. I had one, sampled it, and sold it. I bought a LinnDrum instead... :) TR626 ...

Re: Roland TR-505 vs TR-626

Oh yeah, that E-Mu Drumulator is a good 1980's one too. What kind of 707 money are you talking about. Maybe I can help. I may know of one going for sale.

ELEKTRON USERS

Hey what's your latest OS on the MachineDrum SPS1-UW and MonoMachine SFX-60? Mine is coming up kind of screwy there is a "K" in the lower left hand of the screen upon powering on. The soft reset provides some poor presets to start with.

ASR-10 software

Has anyone tried that software from Chicken Systems? It allows you to back up your samples to a computer and also allows you to manage your samples in software and convert them to Ensoniq format.

Right now I just do it the old fashion way play whatever is in the DAW through a MOTU and sample it.

Re: Roland TR-707 vs Sequential Circuits Drumtraks

The TR707 has a SLOT for a memory cartridge. That Sequential Circuits though break the functional conditioning get BOTH and more. You need an E-MU Drumulator too!

Re: Roland TR-505 vs TR-626

That Kawai sounds like old Wax Trax! stuff That 626 is more like the old Detroit Techno sound i.e. KMS "The Sound", "Big Fun" The 707 is more Chicago sounding Marshall Jefferson, Armando but also has that Wax Trax! edge Why not the Casio RZ1, super easy to program and it has lo-fi sampling like a Ca...

Re: ASR-10 question

Hey ASR 10 users quick question: Is there a functionality to span a wave sample across the keys without having to resample? What I am trying to accomplish is having the sample start from different ascending parts or times. Example: "Here is my sample" C1 = "Here" C# = "is" D ="my" etc. I saw this do...

Seriously, vintage is always a great investment. Stick with the foreign manufacturers for the new innovative ones. It's just the way it is.
