Re: Roland JX10 V3.0

Well, that and the LFO free run which he already has taken care of. Yes, PWM will be very nice indeed though. What would be cool is if the envelopes and filter could somehow be adjusted.

Re: Korg Poly 61 for $300 too much?

As far as inexpensive analogue poly synths go the Roland JX and Alpha Juno series is where it's at. The biggest drawback to me with the Poly-61 is the incredibly small resolution on parameters. Ehh, not fully analogue but the KORG DW8000 is a good inexpensive vintage unit.

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?

Another option would to be to get 6 or more Slim Phatty modules and poly-chain them together. Though can get a SE Code at that rate.

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?

Well, as far as inexpensive analogue poly synths that you don't have to worry about there's the Roland JX family and the Juno 6/60 and Alpha series. Ehh, most others like the Oberheim Matrix series are fairly reliable but problems can occur from time to time. It's just the nature of the beast, if yo...

Re: hello forum = Old school heads looking for gear, advice.

Why spend so much for what have become collector's toys when you can get far much more with other alternatives. This. Although I'll go in a completely different route and suggest...*gasp*...software. For a few hundred bucks you can have the ultimate software setup that does everything an 808 and ju...

Ah yes, the resonant wavetables. Forgot about them, then again I only use my VFX as a controller these days. Still isn't quite the same though.

I suppose you already found in the amplifier section where you can turn off the velocity.

I need to feel up to making some demos, still in the midst of shuffling gear around though.

Re: Some trolling from Katsunori Ujiie

Someone posted this on Gearslutz as well I think? Yamaha already did this: EX5 in 1998 followed by the PLG cards two years later. Market response was cool, they dropped the idea in 2007. I owned a Motif ES, at one point I had three AN cards installed, later one each of the AN, VL and DX. The one se...

Re: rather have 2 synths to play or multi track

Obviously you missed the sarcasm. :P

Even in a studio setting vintage gear is finicky at times, I just don't have the patience for it. That and my OCD compels for perfection. All that being said as before, I like vintage equipment.

Re: rather have 2 synths to play or multi track

no one mentioned my reason for wanting to have 2 of the same synth... my prophet 5 has been in the repair shop for half a year... i wish i had an alternate to use while it was gone - that's my reason for wanting to have 2 of the same synth... playing 2 at once is a bonus but it's not crucial That's...

Re: Some trolling from Katsunori Ujiie

I think what he's saying is what his "Dream Yamaha" synth would be compromised of. Especially seeing how now Yamaha only does sample based instruments, when in the past they used to do much more. Made for some really nice layers. I like to do the same with layering a sampled sound, a FM sound, and a...

That'd be incredibly stupid on KORG's part, getting people's hopes up and crushing them doesn't make for a good business model.

Re: Any more news about the Kodyssey?

I'm also curious about this and find it odd that in over two months there's nothing more out about it. I suppose there's not entirely too much to tell, it's a re-release of a well known synth. I think what everyone really wants to know is if it's full size and what the cost will be. Usually I'm not ...

Re: Kawai K5000 Synthesizer

Indeed. I plan on getting a K5 soon though, have wanted one for awhile now. In fact I bought one last year off eBay, but it was "stolen" before it could make it to the post office. Funny after I was refunded it was shortly "recovered" and listed for considerably more than what I had won it for.
