Re: KORG ESX-1 - Loose Master Volume Knob - any solution ?

Lead free solder takes higher temps to melt. If the potentiometer's contacts have broken free you can just re-solder it and be good to go.

Re: Roland Juno 106 Dead Keys

Glad it was something easy after all, what I did was I made a jumper wire and soldered it in. Conductive pen should work though as long as it's a good one.

I'm more of a player than a tracker, so I'll take 2 of the same.
I know, read what I said more carefully. :P

Re: Roland Juno 106 Dead Keys

I saw a similiar video and cleaned the keys/contacts last night - they still do not work (the same 6 keys). It makes me think that it is a connection issue. I took a penny and touched 2 of the leads together the bad key and the good key next to it I could get the key to work temporarily. Could be a...

Re: Best Synth Teacher

I really didn't get much into programming sounds until I got my JX-8P. Ironically enough my first synth was an Alesis Ion. My second synth was a Poly-800. It was shortly thereafter I realized I needed 61 keys to play 90% of the songs I wanted to play at that time, so I think that's why I never reall...

Re: rather have 2 synths to play or multi track

Hmm, in some instances two would be preferred. Lets say "Synth A" REALLY excels at both lead and bass sounds, but is monotimbral, and I'd most definitely want to play both during a live situation. During recording as well as that simplifies the process. That'd really be the only time I could think a...

Re: Roland XP30 help

Hmm, could need a factory reset/calibration. I think a XP-50 I had a long time ago I had to re-calibrate it, but then it was fine since. There's a series of buttons you'll have to press to access it, might try giving Roland a call as through a quick Google search I can only find how to do the reset.

Re: Ensoniq SD-1 Questions (Jump and 1984 Patch Building)

It's impossible, you need resonance for all of the patches. Especially the bass sweep for 1984. For these kind of sounds you'll really need an analogue or virtual analogue synth. If these are the kind of sounds you'll primarily be making you'll need to sell the SD-1 and buy something else, provided ...

Re: Recording the Korg Ms-20 Mini

Get a USB audio interface and then just connect the output of the MS-20 Mini to that, might need adapters of some sort as well. For recording there's plenty of free software like Audacity to get started with.

Man, why can't anything like this ever happen remotely near me? I wish I could go, looks to be a night that one will remember for the rest of their lives. That and seeing people punch Marc in the face, I jest.

Oh no, I wasn't trying to take anything away from your purchase. I like both pieces, it's just they have a very DISTINCT sound that you really can't escape. Which is a double edged blade in a way. I command you to make a cover of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" now that you have an 808. :P http://www...

We'll see you in a few weeks when you tire of not being able to escape "IT'S A JUNO AND 808 f**k" sound in your music. :P

I create music with a piano, well now a sampled piano sound. I miss my acoustic.
