Re: Casio FZ1

FZ10m rockets sky high! 335 GBP with 6 hours to go. Put a HxC Rev F floppy emulator inside and you'll have a awesome sampler. Only thing is, how to get all these floppy's converted? (LCD looks good :D) (some time later, no new posting but just an edit):  OMG!!! 440 GBP, they've gone crazy! Th...

Re: Casio FZ1

It went completely wrong. Changed the EL of the FZ1, had to do it because data transfer through port cable was getting worse and I use it for loading the FZ10m (it also is a sign of things to come :( ). After I changed the EL that problem was solved, but not for long with only 3000 hours to go. The ...

Re: Casio FZ1

Just the rubber strip. After 25 years it was beyond recognition. one sticky, almost liquid mess. Didn't know with what to replace it. That was the hardest part. Once I found a suitable replacement it was easy. Especially using the sticker remover to get rid of the remains. First I thought to use the...

Re: Casio FZ1

Hello again, (some cut and paste from the HxC forum: http://torlus.com/floppy/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=408&p=11030#p11030 ) Replaced the backlight panel for the FZ10m yesterday. The old one was real dim already and getting dimmer in time, barely visible in the dark and also caused problems. After ...

It seems that it's solved now. A resistor (don't know yet which one) or preferably a switch will do the trick.

Re: Casio FZ1

Hello, edited update i have a problem which I really need to solve. When connecting the FZ1 to the FZ10 with the FZ to FZ port cable (see previous posting) there is an audible noise of approximately actually +/- 196 hertz (key G3, I said 50Hz before  ) coming from all outputs of both samplers....

Re: Casio FZ1

Some of the drilled disks I tried didn't go at first. When I widened the hole, all of a sudden some of them became readable again. Some holes were quite big but situated just a little out of the right place. To check I had to lay a HD disk underneath the drilled ones and then look through the hole t...

Re: Casio FZ1

Hi Alan, here is some more info: the keys are just a bit sticky because the foam rubber strip that the keys rest on is starting to go bad. I would like to replace that. I had the same problem for years. So last year or so I decided to do something about it. I went to a litttle shop downtown where th...

Re: Casio FZ1

Hello FZ1,-10 and -20 users, FYI, about loading 2 megs into the FZ through HxC Floppy Emulator. 1 meg is simple but for 2 meg you need 2 "floppies". The FZ asks for 'next disk?' You have to remember that you have to use the HxC as an ordinary FZ floppy drive. So this is how I do it: Put 2 empty disk...

Re: Casio FZ1

Hi Morten, if I hadn't bought those spare parts from you for the FZ1, I never would have come this far ;) . I am still very happy with the FZ1's new display and panel, it's HxC Floppy Emulator from Lotharek (everybody with a FZ sampler needs one) and this wonderful port cable I could make thanks to ...

I found that picture again of Jeff McClintock's FZ-Dump Cable Box: http://web.archive.org/web/20091022140547/http://geocities.com/sirmidi/fzsample.html and some links still work though downloading samples and tools might not be possible anymore: http://web.archive.org/web/20091022133715/http://geoci...

Re: Casio FZ1

Allright! It's working flawlessly in both directions. No smoke coming out of the samplers. Thanx a zillion Graham. Yesterday I was already looking at the Casio_Data_Structure pdf file by T. Sasaki and the NEC uPD7055 datasheet but it would take me years to figure out how to make a FZ to FZ port cabl...

Re: Casio FZ1

To transfer samples from one FZ to another, you need a specially wired parallel port cable, unique to the FZ. It was sold by Casio as an accessory for the FZ. So, is there a way to DIY? Has anybody got a wiring scheme? ....hours later: Went to the Yahoo FZ group, made an account but still nothing. ...
