If you had to pick one?

I had posted about the Modal 8 voice, but can see that there is already a post about it... so.... let's not waste a new thread. What is the best new piece of gear or what new gear are you most interested in this season? Personally I like the idea of the korg ms20m and the TE pocket operators. I can...

Re: Randomness in digital and analogue drum machines

Not to fire up the old analog vs digital debate but samplers are not all you need for drum machine sounds. I like my samplers but there is some awesomeness in he randomness. I agree with that 100% I gotta say though, removing time correction when putting in beats on the mpc gives the groove a much ...

Re: Do you own an EPD WASP?

Won't the circuitboards be a problem? Or do you plan to just wire everything together on a huge breadboard? as of right now, I am gearing up to recreated the layout in Eagle or pcbweb designer. No custom stuff, just trace for trace duplication and either printing my own (much easier than one would ...

Re: Do you own an EPD WASP?

I have seen it, but in reading about other peoples experience with it, there were apparently flaws in the layout and flaws in the additional features and their integration. I figured, as basic as it sounds ( and I am not a guru as far as electronic design or engineering) I could improve my soldering...

Do you own an EPD WASP?

I am looking for high res images of the pcb on an original edp wasp. I have found a few online, but would really like to get a complete set, front and back. I am willing to donate a some bucks to anyone that can systematically document and photograph it. I want to build a clone and this is the first...

Re: Synth prices going up

Sounds like I dodged a bullet with that 626 aha! Cheers for the support on the softsynths too. As for other drum machines, I've put together a list of different ones that people seem to like. So far I have the Korg DDD-1, some of the Boss Dr. Rhythm ones and then some Alesis ones. I'll probably add...

Re: Optimum sample rate for SoundCloud

Have you read this yet? The actual steam is 128k MP3. This reduces resolution of course, but for optimum quality you should upload in a lossless format, 44.1/16. Good info, also note that if you enable downloading, they get a copy of the originally uploaded file (or so it seems if I am interpreting...

Re: sending accents to TR8

Change the notes velocity to 127 maybe? Probably this. or (i'm not familiar with the tr8) but you could record the midi output from a non accented and then an accented note into your daw and compare. Side note: IIRC the velocity changes parameters in the circuit emulation that the tr8 uses. So it m...

Re: Pattern sequencers - not developing with the times?

How about the Sequentix P3? I've taken the liberty to bold some of the high points... The P3 Sequencer is an 8 track, hardware MIDI sequencer , with a user interface comprised of knobs, keys and LEDs. A sixteen character by two line PLED display provides confirmation of pattern data and access to ad...

In hushed tones, behind closed doors... obviously

Re: Someone Needs to make The EDP WASP

You're describing the Novation Bass Station 2. Maybe so, at least for the 'special', But I would like to see (hear) an exact replica made today. With only the original circuit designs and controls(no special sauce added on). The only upgrade would need to be the shoddy keyboard, but to something st...
