Re: Thoughts on the CZ-5000

Just to echo what's already been said. $160 for the 5000 is a great deal, hop on it. For the sounds and the sequencer, you'll definitely get enough time and enjoyment out of it to easily make it worth that price. And if you fall in love with it like many of us have, you'll want the CZ-1 later. The e...

Re: Roland Boutique

Had a panic attack, heh. I'd ordered the JP-08 through GC online because I had a big discount to use. It hasn't shipped yet. Called them up and he confirmed they're off the site as they're already out of stock for now (!), but that my order is fine and due to ship on Monday. Guess I better quickly s...

Re: What are your thoughts on the Casio HT-6000? (Just got o

Sorry it took me so long to reply. The past week has been a "barely time for synths" week. Great track (and great soundcloud collection!) with the HT-700, really 80s-evocative tones there. I think a blog or at least an "Casio SD" page would be great. I've been gathering lots of info and have some th...

Re: What are your thoughts on the Casio HT-6000? (Just got o

I've spent the past two evenings with my newly acquired HT-6000, and I'm really impressed. When I first got it home, I was a bit disappointed, thinking "Oh, this is just a 3000 with a few more bells and whistles." Man, was I wrong. The ability to go in and further shape those individual oscillators ...

Re: Casio CZ101 dead volume control and intermittent cartrid

Still have buzzy headphones, but I'll figure that out when I get a better oscilloscope. The one I have doesn't capture enough detail at low voltages, and I can't even "see" the buzz at the headphone output. Just remembered something. Not sure if it was my 101 or another Casio, but I did have the bu...

Re: Casio CZ101 dead volume control and intermittent cartrid

Check with this guy (Andrew) on eBay. I've dealt with him before and he's good with CZ parts. He has a replacement headphone jack for $2. Even if he doesn't have it listed, he may have it, so don't be afraid to drop him a note.

Re: Analogue Drums in Casiotone synths (MT-52, MT-400v, ..)

i love that mt-65 minimal design too. everything in lowercase. I thought I was one of the few that ever noticed that! The overall color scheme of the 65 (and the white and blue of the 45) still looks great today, especially in light of the fact that almost everything would go black and silver not l...

Re: Analogue Drums in Casiotone synths (MT-52, MT-400v, ..)

AFAIK, the Casio MT-65, MT-68, CK-500, MT-100, MT-45, MT-46, Casiotones 404, 405, 610, and 7000, CT-620, CT-605, CT-430, and, yes, the CT-310 all use the same chipset for the analog drums. There may be some others, but I think the MT-52 and MT-400V used a different method.

Re: Analogue Drums in Casiotone synths (MT-52, MT-400v, ..)

My beloved Casiotone 405, with its fake woodgrain and warm sounds. Love it, will never get rid of it. May get up the guts to add MIDI someday, but cutting it will seem like a violation. It's still as lovely as Christmas morning. Might crack open the MT-65 instead. Not me, not my video, but a video o...

Re: Internal patches for Casio CZ3000 needed

Just an FYI for anyone interested. My 5000 arrived today. On startup it had the standard 32 Preset Bank patches from ROM. No tones were in the Memory Bank RAM. I re-powered it up using the instructions above (power on while holding the Initialize button, and while still holding initialize press the ...

Re: Internal patches for Casio CZ3000 needed

But there are factory loaded presets in the internal ram..
Out of curiosity, what were these presets? Were they just a duplication of the Preset Bank, or 32 completely different patches? I don't think the doc I have details what was in the Memory Bank by default.

Re: Internal patches for Casio CZ3000 needed

Right, I get that. But here's my question: why does the CZ-5000 Service Manual (not the User Manual) have this in it (and I haven't seen the 3000 Service Manual, but I suspect they're largely the same): "When the connector from the batteries is disconnected, all the sound data in the memory bank are...

Re: Internal patches for Casio CZ3000 needed

Right, sorry for any confusion. The CZ-3000 manual says "When the connector from the batteries is disconnected, all the sound data in the memory bank are cleared," and I thought that that meant that even the 32 default Presets were cleared. And mickrick said "all of the internal patches have been wi...

Re: Internal patches for Casio CZ3000 needed

According to the 5000 manual, when the connector from the batteries is disconnected, all the sound data in the memory bank is cleared. When this happens, re-initialize the unit with the following procedure: 1. Turn the Power Switch off and press the INITIALIZE button. 2. Turn the power switch on, an...
