Re: Finding a replacement LED for an ART SGE Mach II effects process

Thanks for this. I'm happy to report the unit turned out to not have a problem with the LED, but rather the LCD screen that just has some little black bloch on it.. doesn't even interfere with reading the screen but it's right in the middle. Glad to know though about the LED.. I do have a similar is...

Finding a replacement LED for an ART SGE Mach II effects process (solved)

Hi everyone, I am working on restoring a recently bought ART SGE Mach II. I had one of these years ago and wanted to have another and found it for a fair price.. but I'm hearing that some of the bars don't light up. I'd like to replace it with a new one. Admittedly I'm curious if they are in fact co...

Re: Pitch to Midi Conversion on Boss DR5?

very cool, yea a truly mono instrument might actually work ok.. but guitar with its multi tone ability was more than it could handle.. but that does may me wonder how it would track with a mono synth going through it.. i'll have to try it.

Re: Pitch to Midi Conversion on Boss DR5?

not very well. i just tested it out recently (decades since the last time i tested it) and yea it's as bad as I remembered it in 1993.. it works OK if you are patient and play very slow but you still get phantom octaves and such.. overall i'm not sure why boss even bothered.. its about up there with...

actually i found this on ebay just now.. looks interesting. Though I might see about making something at a hardware store and save a few bucks, but yea i still wondered if there was something people out there with experience had an opinion on.

Any suggestions for good 1/8" and 1/4" jack cleaning materials?

I have up till now serviced hundreds of ports for patchbays and synths and up till now I've shot a blast in.. taking a 1/4" to RCA adapter and gone in and out.. twisted and this works well enough, but i got to thinking i would really like to take that time to really scrub and a metal plug isn't real...

Re: soaking / submerging gear/boards in denatured alcohol?

well i've been pretty lucky so far then :) but most things i've serviced are 1U effects boards and such where you have a fairly accessible line of pots and usually there is a hole i can reach with my trusty deoxit spray tube. but yea i do get that serious knobage boards like mixers and such (this is...

soaking / submerging gear/boards in denatured alcohol?

Hi there, I just got my hands on an old peavey 8 channel line mixer for my synths and as you can imagine the pots a bit scratchy.. normally i open up something and spray the pots in those nice spots and this does the trick, but this particulars 2U model didn't do many favors in making the pots easy ...

omg that's amazing! sooooo cool. That is exactly what I need. It's nice to see these can be made. I have to get this! Not cheap but not outrageous either. I should have googled more, but thanks. I just didn't know if there was some obvious well known place for parts.. I have to remember syntar too.....

does anyone make replacement button surfaces for synths like the Kawai K3? (fixed picture)

So I just got my hands on a K3 which I traded with a local fella for my (in better shape) K4.. the K3 I have is fully functional and sounds great, but it's got one issue.. https://previews.dropbox.com/p/thumb/AAn_1H6QMGtTSSPFdbaxoQkcmBcXdoCsdB17wqQGIwUbF80HPQzg3AvFId0tFe0j-Ja6PKbwWd0Vz7osa3NwEIzmuXk...

Re: ok to clean keyboard contacts with deoxit? (resolved)

I found these two links in my research that were useful for servicing the K4: http://www.drosera.f2s.com/Servicing_K4.htm http://www.bustedgear.com/repair_Roland_d50_key_contacts_5.html the key takeaway here when cleaning contacts is that the material unlike normal printed circuits and solder is tha...

Re: ok to clean keyboard contacts with deoxit?

Ok so i went with the 91% denatured alcohol. I figure Deoxit might be too aggressive for 1989 contact material.. the operation was a success thought one key seems to still be a little sketchy.. i'm going to have to give it another cleaning tomorrow and let it all sit overnight.. maybe its got a hit ...
