Could use help figuring out this Emu ESI-32 Sampler

Hi everyone, I've recently got my hands on an ESI-32 sampler and for the life of me I can't get it to play back sounds.. however I realize these units were not exactly intuitive. I've been through the manual and followed the example on how to get a sample and it didn't seem to work.. i'm trying to f...

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

yea i've used programs like ableton live and others... they are amazing.. but there is something to be said about being lost in possibilities.. as i used those programs it just feels like i just tread water.. not really making music... just experimenting which is fun, but i realized some of my best ...

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

No problem about the off topic! :) Yea thanks, it would go better of Zzounds would get those cables on backorder to me... it's been so hard to turn off the "buy old bargains.." out on Craig's List.. I got a proteus FX for $40 today.. a 4 track fostex from around 98 for $45.. a JV 1080 for $100 (with...

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

oh yea totally missed that.. very cool! I'll give it a try soon. I still have to rewire my studio first to get everything online and make sure i'm not creating a fire hazard! :)

Thanks!

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

also be careful about formatting 720kb on some newer drives.. i think some might not even be able too.. although in hindsight it could have been that i was using a 1.44mb disk and they did have physical differences (like the save toggle) to tell the drive what kind of disk it was so in hindsight i m...

Re: standalone arpeggiator?

Also a nice way I found to transfer files is through a PCMCIA CF Card reader.. I have on on each of my two Amiga 1200's.. what's nice is they are Fat formatted so I can move the CF over to PC and copy files over.. This was how I was able to migrate all my old 8-bit custom samples. Ebay has them and ...

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

unfortunately amiga disks were a special breed. they were 880kb.. physically impossible for PC floppy drives to read them.. that's always been my understanding.. however amiga disk drives could read pc formated disks with certain software. That is awesome that your A500 booted up and is working! :) ...

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

Yea I tried to ask if BnP could access the sampler because I was willing to learn it instead but the person I spoke with I think by phone or maybe by email (made my first email account in 96) and they said no or at the very least couldn't confirm. I've never tried Music-X but that video does look a ...

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

I'm Running Tiger Cub.. it's a 12 track MIDI sequencer that allows me to access the Amiga's internal sounds like a midi instrument which is pretty unique from what I could find back then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eLtZbYCQp8 Does Music-X have an built in ARP?! I've never used it before. Also ...

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

yea that's pretty awesome.. i see one for $300.. i guess that's ok though i must say i'd probably go with one of those akai pro units.. granted i realize it's not old enough to drink.. but on a budget getting something almost 1/2 the cost that's basically brand new.. it's tempting.. but i must say.....

Re: standalone vintage arpeggiator?

do you know of that old akai itself would slave to a midi clock? having it be on it's own internal clock would not be too helpful as i'd be wanting everything to be synced up.

Thanks!
