Re: Synth for 8/16 bit sounds.

Yeah, and I vowed to myself never to use VSTs because I prefer using an in life instrument. So maybe Chipsounds wouldn't work for me. Does anyone know much about what synths this influence combined with an electro funk from the 80's (1980-1982) influence would need? And I am most inspired by C64, S...

Re: Korg MS-20 mini / Korg Minilogue

What is wrong with having both ? I own an MS 20 mini, it is great, and you can get them for around $400 US right now on eBay if you pay attention. The Minilogue, I have never played, but have seen about half a dozen videos on it and it looks great, too. A polysynth for under $500 US (?) .... So cool...

Re: cheap synths

If you are thinking about learning on a cheap synth with the end goal of buying a Moog, I think you are totally right on with the idea of buying either a Microbrute or Minibrute to learn on. However, if you do have an iPad or Android device, may I suggest you use an app like Caustic ( amazing app by...

Re: Chaining mixers?

I don't see anything wrong with using a mixer with a smaller channel count as a mixer dedicated to a drum machine that has individual outs; in this way one can effect and EQ each drum sound by itself and then, by running that stereo mix back into a ( master) mixer with a bigger channel count, a pers...

Re: OB-6/Prophet-6/Jupiter 6

As far as the 3 way shoot goes... I have a huge bias towards Dave Smith over Roland so my input on that portion won't be objective, but as far as on the OB6 vs. the P6 ; I would say that they are both extremely high quality, well designed synths, Both seem made for instant hands on enjoyment and are...

Re: OB-6/Prophet-6/Jupiter 6

As to the mother moog 32, I was considering buying one as well in order to have a moog filter on hand but after some online video listening/ reading I discovered that the MM32's filter does not really get that classic dirty moog drive when pushed ( at least to my taste) For me, a lot of the moog app...

Re: Why do people hate the alesis SR16?

SR-16 was also one of the first drum machines I messed around with... Why did I hate it then? No individual outs ... I wanted to dub, brah! Cold, hard sounds. Tiny interface. Why did I love it? Can write in off times. I figured out that I could add layer up on layer of madness and then use the live ...

Re: KORG Volca: Keys VS FM

http://youtu.be/Mzo8l5GBQ3E ^ Link to very neat power supply solution... Also, if you back track to part 1 of this video series you will see talk of a Realkits midi cable which fixes the velocity issues assoc. with the Volca FM ( which gets my vote over the keys, having heard neither in person, mind...

MIDI keyboard advice?

Hey y'all, Been a minute since I have been on site, hope everyone is well. After years of paying my dues, I have my own company now and have been reinvesting in hardware; despite the best interest of my romantic relationship I have gone a bit crazy. Anyway, I am hoping for advice on a midi controlle...

Doesn't the Moog Sub 37 let you play the filter? I think so, anyway.

Re: Last remaining good value analogue poly synths?

Keep in mind that even if you land an older poly analog synth in good shape, you may very well have to reinvest a decent amount of $ at some point in yr time together to keep it alive. Don't mean that dispatchingly, just something to consider if you are on a tight budget.
