Kawai K11?

I am seeing a bunch of Kawai's for sale lately and not for very much. I know the K1 is loved by some, is there anything wrong with a K11?

Re: What synth should I buy for funk and prog?

I wrote King Kong ... Hahahaha.... Speaking of King Kong, this is how "safety" jazz makes me feel...https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DTWYQhTT388..... .....just one man's opinion...but that Korg does sound pretty wicked. Not psyched on the digital reverb the whole band is running thru, I bet the k...

Re: That point in which sequencing MIDI just seems like a ch

Very welcome! I know the feeling you have all too well, and I too am older and hermity as well. It's hard to break out of a funk but I think the key is to not let your inner critic squash you. I also found listening to new music and going down a YouTube rabbit hole for awhile to be inspiring.... "It...

Re: That point in which sequencing MIDI just seems like a ch

Hey, I've been where you are a few times and have a couple suggestions. One thing I would say is that don't blaim yourself because you are not having fun with your set up, midi/DAW sequencing is not for everyone. Anyway, here goes... 1) try singing a melody or riff or some phrases into a recorder. i...

Re: Technical "complexity" of compression

Forgive me if I miss your point but isn't that where Attack and Release come in? Those parameters are where you fine tune your compression temporally. If you set your threshold to a point where your acoustic guitar will not trip it when solo-ed, your snare drum trips the compressor and that spike is...

Re: modular build

@Pflosi, the ALM Akemie's Castle is exactly what I meant and it looks SO COOL * nerd voice* HI CHAH! *air karate chop and attempt at a clumsy jump kick* ... Thank you! Gotcha on the level thing, too. Found a good site for explaining things I didn 't really get yet... Arpeggios are usually done thru ...

Re: modular build

Thanks for the link, Stab. Yeah, I need to get much deeper into understanding patching, I've done a decent amount but not nearly enough. The door has been opened and I'm left with a serious itch to scratch. I'll save my questions for more concrete concerns for now. However, still curious about what ...

Re: modular build

@Pflosi, first off, thanks for your reply. Yes, I did mean arpeggiators ( not the company). Are they few and far between because they are complicated to craft and therefore expensive? Bad form with short hand on my part, I do understand what PWM is but I haven't seen any modules that feature pulse w...

Re: modular build

Thanks for the replies, After looking at the prices of prefab racks I decided to build my own and ordered a few diy synth and basic electronics books last night. I'd like to eventually build some of my own components as well, I have plenty of junky keyboards and pedals to practice on and get up to s...

Looking for advice on putting piecing together a modular system. Not a rich man so will add bits over time. Suggestions on brands/components/order of components?

Re: What synth should I buy for funk and prog?

The linked video for the King Kong makes a good case for it, while it doesn't quite match up to the analog filters of yore it gets close and the versatility of having nineteen to chose from is pretty dang balls, given that you can probably scoop a KK for a grand or under. Purism vs. Flexibility. Tha...
