Re: installing scsi drive into emulator 4

I don't really know where the termination point is because the jumpers aren't labeled properly so all I can do is guess https://i.imgur.com/xpNqips.jpg idk what I'm doing honestly Welcome to the horror show that is SCSI .... I think that if you can't find a schematic of the hard drive online, you'l...

Re: Akai s5000 SCSI card reader - PLEASE HELP!!

OK - just an update... I've bought a PCMCIA caddy for a compact flash card and the sampler/card reader will read media in this slot... I'd read in a few posts that, depending on the firmware version of the card reader, only the PCMCIA slot might be active and this eems to be the case here. There are...

Re: Akai s5000 SCSI card reader - PLEASE HELP!!

Out of curiosity: You said the floppy drive was pulled. What happens if you boot with the SCSI drive but with the floppy drive also temporarily hooked up? Good question... I'll have to try and find the floppy drive so I can't tell you at the moment. The sampler looks for the floppy even though it's...

Re: Akai s5000 SCSI card reader - PLEASE HELP!!

I've checked the sampler and scsi termination is ON. Only one device should be terminated, so turn that OFF on the sampler, and leave it ON at the card reader. That can certainly cause a problem like this. But it worked fine that way with the Jazz drive you say- well that's not unusual with SCSI! A...

Re: Akai s5000 SCSI card reader - PLEASE HELP!!

Those jumpers don't do anything particularly special. They simply select the SCSI ID and whether it's terminated or not. What does that mean to you? If you've got other SCSI devices hooked to the same unit (chained) then only one of them is supposed to be terminated. Also, they'd need to be on uniq...

Akai s5000 SCSI card reader - Sorted.

Hi all I just got hold of a second hand SCSI card reader for my s5000 to replace my SCSI Jaz drive ... the unit apparently came from another Akai sampler (not a s5000 though). Card reader is a Microsystems PCD-50B and it can accept several different cards (SD, compact flash, smart card etc) I plugge...

Re: Setting up my Synth with a DAW.

First of all, go to the Ableton site and watch their 'Learn Live' videos.... based on your post, you should start at the 'how to setup Live' set of videos... in it, you'll see one video on how to correctly configure your Scarlett 6i6 in Live (it's called 'Setting Up An Audio interface')... after tha...

Geneva Spur - new track

Hi all Just thought I'd post a new track... It's not strictly a synth/keyboard track... I decided to finally record some of my guitar pieces that had been kicking around for years and this is the first of a few that I've got on the boil... there's some synth in it (JD-800, K2000 and my trusty Mellot...

VST sound?

Hi all Just a (hopefully) simple question... Where does the 'sound' from a VST actually come from? ... is it totally dependent on your computer's sound card and/or processor and if so, would that mean that the same patch for any given VST would sound different on each computer? Ponderous.... :geek:

Roland SR-JV Cards - Urgent Fix Required

Hi all ** all Roland SR-JV Card Users** Not sure if you have seen this post by fellow VSE member Manny (it was buried inside a separate post): "On a related note, I stumbled upon this thread the other day about the risks of a capacitor exploding on SRJV boards. Apparently Roland has issued a warning...
