Re: My dad invented this synth in the 70s....

I'm still interested in hearing the thing? Looks like you have a few units there. Any of them make noise? Sounds like you are trying to get a company up & running? It's all a little vague

Re: How Much Is an Ensoniq ASR 88 worth?

I had the 88 when they were new. I thought i had to have the 88key unit. looking back now, i would have been better off with the ASR10. However, if the 88 is your bag, i wouldnt expect to pay much more than an expanded 10. a guy locally has one for sale, w/ issues, for $1000. He'll never get that. i...

Re: Ensoniq ASR-X

I wouldn't want an old sampler without a decent way to store files. SCSI a way to do that.

Re: What the Sh!t do I do with this?

Soldering I have. I'm a luthier. I can follow a diagram. Understanding complex electronics, a different story ;) Just making sure. :) As for understanding the circuits, as I said, start simple and work from there. The "Atari Punk" circuit I linked to above is a good choice, since there isn't a whol...

Re: What the Sh!t do I do with this?

Not really a synth, just a electronic test tool that emmits a sine/square wave. Guess you could record some weeeooo sounds with it, but it has no control voltage inputs so you can't play it from a keyboard for instance. I didn't expect to play jingle bells with it. Some obscure background...

Re: What the Sh!t do I do with this?

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out. There are plenty of tutorials online on how the various electronic components (resistors, capacitors, transistors, integrated circuits, etc.) work. Once you gain some knowledge, find some example circuits, buy the needed components, and breadboard them using ...

Re: What the Sh!t do I do with this?

The tones it produces are going to be fairly plain (no filters or anything), but might sound neat regardless. The unit is basically a series of power supplies, a very simple signal generator (the part that creates the tone), and a 'breadboard' space where you can construct circuits which would be p...

Re: What the Sh!t do I do with this?

Appears to be a rebranded Heathkit ET-3100 electronics trainer. They were used in schools to help kids learn the basics of electronics. The 'sounds' you will be able to get out of it are simple sine and square wave tones, the pitch of which are adjusted by turning the FREQ knob, and setting the RAN...

What the Sh!t do I do with this?

Found this today. Wonder if I can get it to make noise? Re: Rehearsal amps, why?

Is there any problem with the fact that the left and right channels would be coming from exactly the same place with a stereo monitoring amp? I know if you pan left and right channels together you get a mono signal, but I'm not sure how it works on a stage with a very narrow stereo image. In other ...
