Re: Rehearsal amps, why?

Like how you'd spend 3 hours making this deep awesome patch, play it in a song in rehearsal and nobody even heard it because I was sharing amp with the guitarist. And if I DARED to up my volume everyone'd stare at me like I just farted really loudly. I was literally voted out of a band because noon...

Re: Rehearsal amps, why?

It's a tricky the thing to work out, I am gonna talk some c**p and hope someone else knows the answer because I am a lazy f**k and in a c**p mood... anyway, boring feelings aside... They do make those silly looking, weirdly shaped things that everyone in the band can plug into and you can all fight...

Re: Rehearsal amps, why?

I'm prob way off base here, but yeah amps are a guitar thing because they include an amp with the speaker and that is why they are called amps, my theory. If you are rehearsing or playing through a house PA system, it probably has stereo or L & R channel set up already, and what happens then is tha...

99.99% of guitars are mono.

If the cinematography is worth a damn, filming black and white is far more superior than color.
Agreed. I think you know what I meant, though.

I would look at any 80's solid state amp, loud, cheap, and a few stereo models.
I would look at Roland JC's.
Thanks for the tips. I was looking at the Roland product line. Some nice stuff.

Re: Rehearsal amps, why?

Why not get a couple of powered PA speakers, and run into it with a small mixing board, instead? That's certainly a thought. I'm dialing in my setup so, where I end up will be determined by budget & needs. The project I'm setting up for would definitely benefit from everyone hearing what is really ...

Re: Rehearsal amps, why?

Probably partially for this exact reason. I would want it mostly for rehearsal. Live usually goes into the board, anyway. I'll keep looking for a used stereo pa. I have a mono PA i can line into but, i'd rather go stereo.

Re: Junk it or sell it? Ensoniq EPS

I've seen them sit for $200, expanded w/hardshell case. They aren't worth a ton but but really cool instruments to have. If I could find one locally at a good price I'd likely jump at it, if it was in decent shape. They pop up here(Seattle area)pretty often but, don't sell, cause owners think they c...

Rehearsal amps, why?

SO I'm considering a good amp for rehearsals. So, I start looking for a stereo amp cause'....of course the keyboards' stereo effect is a big part of the the sound of a band. Wait...why are 99% of amps mono? That is like filming a flower garden in black & white...

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD mainboard troubleshooting

I have an EPS16+ with the same self test mode problem. I have a rack mounted unit, as well. I plan to side by side them to see if I can track down the source of the problem, unless I can find a mainboard before then. diagnostics & repair must be more costly than to buy another unit... Pretty much a...

Re: Need help with vintage synths please!

Everyones approach is different. Yes, MIDI! But, how do you come up with a great feel w/o "jamming" on it a little, first? I'm a horrible piano player but, I love it for composing. Can't imagine having the same ability with a mouse.

Re: Sys~Ex Dump & Retrieval Ensoniq-Akai ???

So... Good news is that I have solved my Sysex Dump. The Sq1+ Wouldn't transfer to our Mac via Sysex Librarian or my Akai S2000. I picked up an SQ1 for $20 & I could transfer a lot of things back & forth between the 2. Everything can transfer from the SQ1 to the SQ1+. However, the other way around, ...

Re: Need suggestions for a hardware sampler

What about something like the Bastl Microgranny. The Microgranny is so cool! I didn't mention it because I wasn't sure it'd fit the bill for OP - it's 8bit, doesn't have a built in sequencer, is monophonic, etc. I personally don't mind that, I LOVE crunchy, lo-fi sounds (I'm an industrial guy), and...

The most maddening issue ...... whenever I made the best patch ever made in existence, it would freeze during the saving process. ... Hope you don't mind me cropping your message. Oh yes so very true!! Even with my sooopa dooopa scsi set up this still happens! So now I have a box of clean formatted...
