Hopefully you'll have that done in the near future then.

Re: noise problems on my juno60

I agree with Rhino's assessment that it's probably a grounding/shielding issue. Pressing the buttons is probably generating some kind of digital hash that's leaking into the audio path. This can sometimes be solved by orienting or routing a wire or harness in a particular direction or by adding cond...

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

To keep everyone in the loop: Still would like to acquire Rev. 'I' (this would be the ROM for the oldest launch models of AX80, until about Feb. of '85) and anyone willing to contribute to making an editor(s) for either tape/SysEx/both would be very welcome. More importantly, Bob is super talented a...

There's a new database here: http://dbwbp.com/index.php/9-misc/37-synth-eprom-dumps

More are being added all the time.

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

Hope I didn't step on any toes here. Probably better if you don't send me anything. Sounds like you did a great thing, adding sysex patch save and restore. How did you decide on the format of the header? Did you find out the Akai ID for sysex? I wasn't sure if I should use that, or just make up som...

Re: AX-80 O.S. hacking co-op?

Damn. Makes me wish I'd let this project fester another 6 months so I wouldn't have wasted an insane amount of time on something you've easily bashed out in a few weeks. I'll send you my code comments/notes and how I approached implementing SysEx if you want though. Here's the custom firmware with w...

Re: Yahoo Groups Archive

I agree with your idea and I though of this myself recently too, but I'm not so convinced that a personal google drive is a suitable long term archive location. Also the messages often contain valuable info so it would be useful to archive those too. I'm a member of quite a few groups and will look...

Yahoo Groups Archive

I don't know where else to post this, so I suppose here will have to do. Since there are so many resources relevant to vintage synths and samplers hidden behind the "gated community" of Yahoo Groups, I've decided to painstakingly archive as much of it as I can. For now, I've opted only to host the "...

Re: Director-S for the Roland S-330?

Roxio Toast is the easiest way to deal with bin/cue images on OSX. If you're savy with command line stuff then you can use Binchunker.

Bootcamp or VMWare or something would be another option. Or you know, have a Windows buddy use ImgBurn to make you a set of CDs.

Re: Ensoniq eps16 + main board issue

You need a logic probe instead of just a multimeter. Something like an ELENCO LP-560. They're only like $20 or so, including shipping. The general idea is to test the PSU first to make sure all your voltages are good. I'm assuming you did that. Then make sure those voltages are making it to all the ...
