Analog synths without PWM: Why?

Some analog synths were made without PWM such as Roland JX-3P, JX-8P, Korg Poly 800, DW-8000 and 6000 (Hybrids). But Why?

Hear this beautiful PWM sound on this 80's song

At the song at 10:16 listen through and you'll hear the beautiful sounding PWM sound that sounds very detuned and VCO like. It is an old French/Vietnamese love/pop song. What synth do you thing it is? It kind be created on almost any analog synth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmlgV5z0jPA&index=3&...

Re: Korg Polysix Wood Case DIY

Probably won't buy because it would probably be cheaper and more rewarding to buy some wood and cut, drill, and stain be yourself. No one has made a hard wood polysix case by themselves on VSE?

Korg Polysix Wood Case DIY

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you have ever built your own hardwood case for a Korg Polysix; what dimensions are the wood pieces to be cut to and where would the drill holes be for boards, key assembly, fuse, etc, go? Any wood to recommend or tools needed?

Thanks,

Re: $200 Juno 106 Worth It?

$200 for a Juno 106? That is a good deal with or without all working voice chips, you could even talk the price down with him! The voice chips are a repair job one can do by themselves if they are handy with a soldering iron and following the directions of it. Take them while they are still there. Y...

Yamaha Rm800 vs. Soundcraft Spirit Studio

Was looking at both of these mixers and was wondering which one would be better for recording, both are best as 24 channel; which one has better sounding eq's? Less noise? More features?(Though the Soundcraft Spirit appears that it might have more features) Better sound?

Re: My Remakes of Classic Yazoo songs

I listened to the "Don't Go" and it sounded pretty good like the other covers created of the same song, the Juno 60 is a great choice for recreating this song and it makes it sound interesting with the chorus.

Analog mixer for Recording: Soundcraft 200b or Yamaha RM800

Hi guys I have the opportunity to obtain either a Soundcraft 200B for $200-250 or a Yamaha RM800 ($250-300)both 24 channel. Just wondering if any of you have experience with either of those mixers and which one would you prefer for a recording situation. Is the Soundcraft 200B more of a live mixer? ...

Re: How to fix non working Polysix buttons and key

Hey Polysixer, Thanks for replying, I myself have done some research on the repairs and think the buttons will be an easy job, maybe cleaning will help. On the key contacts though, I have heard people say that using alcohol to clean them would not be the best idea since they could wear away the carb...

How to fix non working Polysix buttons and key

Just got a Polysix with no battery leakage, but turns out the hold button will not work or light on when pressed, and the number 4 and 5 button on the patch sometimes require more force to press or can be pressed regularly for them to work. How would these be fixed and are they easy fixes? I would i...

Re: Removing coating from all voice and wave chips from Juno

I think there might be some confusion about the potting on the 80017A VCA/VCF modules which is being perpetuated across the internet. Epoxy potted ceramic subtrate modules are somewhat notorious for long term reliability issues and not just limited to those found in the 106. In many cases it is not...

Removing coating from all voice and wave chips from Juno 106

I recently purchased a very nice condition Juno 106 nearly mint and thought of removing the epoxy coating from all the six voice chips and three wave chips before they fail. I know many sites that teach one how to remove the coating and restore the chips, but anyone know of a very good site? Would t...

Why were Juno 106 made with black epoxy over the voices?

This question just popped out of my curiosity; I am wondering why Roland made Juno 106 with the black epoxy/resin covering the voices that causes them to fail over long periods of time. Some say it is to hide their design from competitors, some say to protect the pcb's. What's your guy's input? -Nat...

Re: Midiverb II problems

Yeah, I read about people saying that some filter caps need to be replaced but I am not sure that is the case that was in my unit; some people say the issue comes when the wrong power supply was plugged in once. Mines came with the correct one, I think. Anyways I gave it back, better to just get a n...
