I'd agree! The style of it is kind of psychadelic. I wasn't too sure what the video was about, but it is put together well, the editing and sound are of great quality.

Re: Behringer MS-101 SH-101 clone?

publicity stunt? yes. Fake? probably not. I would definitely say it is a publicity stunt, the picture might have been released at the same time Roland announced their SH 101 boutique probably as an attempt to troll. Not sure when Behringer will release their SH 101. Would you consider buying it? an...

How to create Korg M1 House piano sound on Kurzweil K2000?

Was thinking of creating the Korg M1 House piano16 on a K2000- a somewhat similar synth. There is a very similar program called Program 42 BRIGHT PIANO but doesn't actually have the exact punchy -ness and plasticity of the M1 piano. Or you could start from Keymap 1 Grand Piano and shape it from ther...

Roland R8 Power supply

Anyone ever had or currently own a Roland R8 or R5? The power supplies are extremely hard to find and very particular of a plug. Hard to find online since they are really rare. Anyone ever had to find a power cable for and R5 or R8 Drum machine? Any tips on finding one or any tips on making your own...

Behringer MS-101 SH-101 clone?

Behringer posted a tease photo of a woman holding what looks to be an SH-101 but says MS-101 hinting they are making an SH-101 clone. Anyone looking forward to a full size SH-101 clone by Behringer? Anyone think it will actually happen? How do you think it will compare to Roland's Boutique Sh-01A? -...

Re: What's a good price for a Korg Polysix today?

I have thought about getting a Korg Polysix but the prices today are outrageous. I have to say it: it's only an outrageous price when you can't afford it but still want it. The answer: stop thinking about the Polysix and buy something else . Like any synth, the Polysix has it's own sound but the ac...

City Drive '87 (Revision of previous track "80's Synth Pop"

This is a revision of a track I recently posted on this same board labelled "80's Synth Pop". This has the bass and chord line corrected and better synced to the drums as well as more higher quality sound editing done such as limiting and some reverb. Additional parts were added like electronic Simm...

Re: Help me identify this drum machine

Since you said this demo was recorded around 1996, I will take a guess that the drum machine might be a Roland R8 or R5 because of it's very realistic samples. The R8 drum machine was one of the most popular in the 1990's.

Re: Asian Synth Pop Cover

Cool. Those synth sounds are interesting. I guess you used the JX-8P for the brass sound, it is the same synth used for the horns in Never Gonna Give You Up and Together Forever (Stab Brass), and the Final Countdown. Is that Vietnamese synth music? Thanks for taking a look and commenting, it is a r...

Asian Synth Pop Cover

Recorded another cover, this one is of a 90's Asian synth song. I played it on a Kurzweil K2000, Roland JX-8P, and Alesis SR-16, all sounding nearly exact to the original. It is a recreation of the first song in this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bruFdkTSrKw&t=3s It took me a while to figure...

Why are Euroracks called "Euroracks?"

Always wondered why Euroracks are given the name they have. Were they influential in the creation of European electronic music? Did modular synths originate from a place in Europe?

What's a good price for a Korg Polysix today?

I have thought about getting a Korg Polysix but the prices today are outrageous. $1000-$1500 for a working condition keyboard and around $500-$800 for one that needs repair. Although it is true analog and vintage with only one osc, other true analogs of today with more features such as the Minilogue...

Re: Wondering what synths were used in these songs?

I actually have a cover of the first song in the first link (song from 1990). It will be using a Kurzweil K2000 for the bass and chord sequence, Asian zither, and Asian flute. The JX-8P will play the parts of the Stab Brass ensemble, the strings, and the bells. It's taken me a while to learn and fig...

It sure is an interesting ambient track with some nice pads and leads, what synths and recording program did you use to record?

Re: Wondering what synths were used in these songs?

The first song listed from 1990 Im pretty sure used a Roland JX-8P and probably a Kurzweil K2000, the brass is from the JX-8P, factory patch 28 STAB BRASS and factory patch 13 MUSIC BOX. The strings are from 07 HI STRINGS. They are an exact match when I tried to play them on my JX-8P. The K2000 uses...
