Re: Synth spotting: Alicia Keys interview

I recall a small snippet in Keyboard with Hans Zimmer on set doing Days of Thunder, all I can recall was probably 10 or so Akai S1000, a Fairlight CMI series 3 and Roland MKS80 etc. Will have to see if I still have that issue around.

Re: What's the bass synth on Equinoxe Part VII?

Yeah that pic is later, Jarre acquired a ton of Korg gear leading up to his first gig in Paris. He met Francis Rimbert who was a Korg demonstrator and he lent JMJ most of the gear for the gig, hence all the Korg gear in the concert pics and promo studio shots of the time. Equinoxe 7 is almost certai...

Re: Modulus 002 --- new synth from UK

I know Paul very well and have had several of his other synths, the Monowave and Zira. He has always had a love for the PPG so I was expecting something similar. Phil Taysom his partner is an experienced business man who made his fortune in computers and who used to have a very impressive collection...

Re: Modern monosynth prices VS polysynth prices

Reading a thread about Analogue poly synths that references the Roland Gaia makes my head spin. The level of knowledge and understanding about both synths and synthesis is at times mindblowing from some of the people on here and the internet in general. Do some research, learn about your "hobby" the...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued

There is a guy in the UK selling various Moog percussion modules on eBay..... Anyway, Little Phatty discontinued, it was loved and hated by equal amounts of people. Personally the lack of a noise generator was a bit of a mystery, but then the Prodigy also lacked one. As for the future, I just hope t...

I had my V-Synth with a JP8 above it, not a bad combo.

Re: JD-800 vs V-Synth

I think the JD800 is very poor. Apart from the sliders, which to be honest I never found to be as quick to use as I would hope, it really is a poor synth. Not as nice sounding as a D50. I see no reason to buy one. I was very disappointed by it, the JD990 is another beast altogether however, very pow...

Re: EDP Wasp Deluxe

Rich does a pretty good brokering service. Takes the pain out of everything. With PayPal fees, eBay 10% fee and shipping etc it is nice to take the headache out of it all. I've sold more synths than you can imagine, things do go wrong etc. If you want a good price and an easy deal I would have a goo...

Re: Film & TV scores that used the Synclavier

Got to say the work done on "Full Metal Jacket" with the Fairlight is pretty great, lots of soundscapes etc. Shows how creative a sampler can be. Reminds me of some of the stuff Jarre did on Zoolook.

Re: Request an analog on Roland's Facebook page!

Nah it's not like that at all, people don't sit around all desperate, craving new Roland analog, it's just a simple little fun thing on the side it doesn't cost anything. I think a lot of people crave a new Roland analogue, hence the disappointment and general bitching before and after every NAMM a...

Re: Request an analog on Roland's Facebook page!

Who cares? There are enough Vintage and New analogue synths available to cover anything you could want. Some are maybe too expensive for some, but that has been the case since synths first appeared. Maybe people should concentrate more on what they do own and spend more time crafting their musical a...
