Re: New JV-80 Owner, some questions...
Sounds about right, also look out for the keybed falling apart in a mess of sticky red goo much the same as the JD800 does. The JV80 is a nice little unit but had a few quality issues.

Re: When is it okay to scrap a synth for parts?
I am not sure what services are like elsewhere but here in the UK we can use Jeff at Custom Synth who can refinish the main panel back to new, or custom, for a reasonable price. Obviously all wood parts are available or can be stripped and repolished, I did this to a poorly Minimoog. If you don't ha...

Re: Aurora AR57: New Analog from the UK
I know I am bored that not enough contain exciting things!
How about a good ring mod or multiple filters that are multimode as well.
So many are just too safe so now you have all the old ones and now a load of new ones where's very few stand out.

Re: Aurora AR57: New Analog from the UK
I think it is nice that small business make things like this. Their main source of income is synth repair however.
I would imagine that it will not sell huge amounts.
As for the "Roland" thing... Please, it has been discussed to death over the years.

Re: Aurora AR57: New Analog from the UK
I played an earlier a version of this synth a few years ago, not sure they sold many at all. Frankly I wasn't impressed at all. A very thin sound if I remember, although it seemed to be built well.

Not a bad spec or price,£400, but the 25 key thing is painful.

Re: Nord Lead 4 Coming to Musikmesse
The fact you still need to loose an LFO to have the Arp is bloody stupid. It's a shame they really can't up their game. Also at £1500 it is far too expensive.

Sold 2 Jupiter 8's. Very over rated to be honest, far better poly synths out there.

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.
I think a lot of the "real synth" players out there always think that we are the biggest market when it comes to electronic instruments, we are not. Most of the companies you all cherish so highly are run by one or two guys. I know one maker, who is very highly regarded and has his gear owned by wor...

Re: Sonic State King Korg review
I would say its better at the analogue sound than the Virus, but that's my opinion. The Nord is rather limited in terms of programming. The Novation just sounds nasty, they always have. I think the KK is a winner, sod the name, it seems to do what it set out to do. Team it with an MS20 Mini and a DA...

Re: New Moog
It makes me smile... A lot complain it is unplayable due to the size of keyboard and then others want CV and Gate out to obviously play something else!!
I don't mind the keyboard size, my MiniBrute is fine.

Re: Eminent 310U - The Beast From Holland
It is an ideal that frustrates me today, so many people wondering what their hero act used and wanting to copy their sounds instead of grabbing a synth and making music!!

Re: Eminent 310U - The Beast From Holland
Jarre didn't use the 301U because it had such a great strings sound, but because it was the only polyphonic synth/keyboard he had access to in the early 70s. I think this is a MASSIVE point. People did not use old synths because they were trendy, but because it was only what was available and also ...
