Re: AN1x - Amazing!

If you've got either an iPhone or an iPad you're in for a good time if you check out the free Yamaha Synth Book which contains a very nice virtual AN.

Re: Yamaha dx7 iifd Grey E!! card??? arpegattor help

Many thanks for the SuperMax manual! I will be looking out for one of those cards on the auctions.
The E! IMHO was way ahead of it's time and opened the door to the workstation era and I thank GMR for their work.
(Grey Matter Response...what a name!)

Re: Yamaha dx7 iifd Grey E!! card??? arpegattor help

So....you wouldn't happen to have an extra Supermax card lying around would you?

(And is Supermax the prequel to E!? Is it from Grey Matter Response?)

Re: twin AN-200 versus AN-1x

I believe I spotted an iPad version in a demo but can't seem to find it anywhere(U.S.). No landscape mode on iPad (yet), but yes it plays nicely under external control and sounds great.
(Paralleling here with a PLG-AN) 8-)

Re: twin AN-200 versus AN-1x

Just a bit of an update for the AN world. Adding the AN2015 to the shootout and it holds up quite well amongst its hardware parents. Unfortunately the child does not talk to it's parents...yet. 8-)
(It's packaged within the Yamaha Synthbook and it's free.)

AN1x, AN200, all PLG's...utterly worthless, shabby, useless pieces.

DX7: The back feet are in two inches from the backplane. Spacing between front and back feet is eight inches on center.

Re: Yamaha FM enthusiasts, help me hone my live setup

You can pretty much match to the era of your boards with an old MOTU Midi timepiece II, which is an 8x8 midi router. A wee bit of programming and everything talks to everything. Oh, and there's the old "knobby" DX200. It's DX FM, all knobs transmit, and is a bit of a beast unto itself. Not sure abou...

Re: The factory preset conundrum

DX7 legend has it that whenever they were sent back to the factory they noticed that ALMOST NOBODY had loaded any unique(home brew)patches into them. Mostly cartridge loads and a few 3rd party custom loads. Lesson learned by the manufacturers? The mass consumer wants instant gratification. Only a fe...

Re: FM drum machine

Much more FM machine(6 operators) than drum machine and old "funkbox" form factor: Yammy DX200.
A very capable beast for what it is.

Re: Sector=slice sequencer/play head effects/probability mad

Trying not to buy this, especially since I'm not a "glitcher", but I find myself wanting it to respond to midi input and somehow shifting probabilities based on various input.
Just me. Dunno if it makes much sense yet.

Re: twin AN-200 versus AN-1x

Good score! The Motif ES racks seem to be holding their value a little better just because they can host two plg cards. It can get pretty exotic and is IMHO very efficient. Loaded up an AN and a VL into mine and drive them with a DX-200/DX7II combo which transmits just about everything on the knobs ...

Re: SOFTWARE REVOLUTION

The marriage of software and hardware is the *its. If you play organ at all then you should experience the joy of hauling Hammonds and Leslie's up flights of steps. Enter B4, VB3, Gallileo, etc. Manna from heaven. Clonewheels are of course hardware/software hybrids. Then there's the ancient analogue...

Re: Ultimate DX7 sounds

Very much a "gold vein" thread here(thanks Push-Pull for the beautiful tune and, wow, the sysex?!!).
DX IMHO is vastly unexplored I'm looking forward to looking at the Rokk banks.
(BTW: the membrane buttons went away on the DX7II of course, adds better midi, and then there's the E!)
