Re: Synapse: The Electronic Music Magazine

Priceless.

Infinite thanks.

It was a time of great new discovery and electronic music actually helped fuel the fire.

Re: Yamaha Promix 01 still viable as a keyboard mixer?

Thanks! Except for the 2 channels that recently went on the blink(probably my fault) this mixer has been pretty good to me for mixing all of my junk as I needed the channels and the control features. You know how it goes for us...because of our multi-output gear four channels become two, eight becom...

Yamaha Promix 01 still viable as a keyboard mixer?

So what's the skinny on these old Yamaha Promix 01 mixers for keyboards. My experience has been mixed as my 01 served me well until two channels stopped working which will require a teardown and repair. I understand that this is the grandaddy of Yamaha digital mixers and has a very nice feature set(...

Re: Synths from the past to the future

"All cloud everything" "Synthesis" simply refers to the use of the tools of the time to re/create sound/music. Right? Follows then that given the "newest" tools of our time, i.e. stupendous computing horsepower everywhere ... it will be used...is being used...by us...this very moment...even if you'r...

Re: Synth to buy as an incentive to not buy synths

You may not make it outright, but some kind of compromise may help. That and you'll need a pacifier for yourself. Perhaps dive into the world of free(?) VST's and DAW's for a year and then come back to hardware. Six Days. Sounds like a storybook...and the NAMM is just days away. Ooooo Crumar! Ohhhh ...

Newb promise: What's the better iPhone/Ipad midi interface?

And yes, newb salutation, I searched around a bit.
Seems to be only three real players; Line 6, IK media, and Yamaha.
I'm not talking about docks here, just cabling interfaces.
Personally favoring IK media's IRig Midi. IMVHO.

[quote="masstronaut"]That'll teach you to check the forums more frequently. I thought that I just about live here already. And jeez, I been around three years before the moderator above(no offense Spaceboy) and I'm still just a newb. Ok then, I'll bite. Never owned anything from Akai before, and I g...

Yep, missed it too. Is it worth the two bucks?

Re: anyone know what this Yamaha keyboard is?

Such humble beginnings. The technology was an electric fan.
BTW, was my Yamaha synth built by a robot?

Re: An FM synth with knobs?

FM8 (with a multitouch screen :D ) pretty much trumps all in terms of fm heaven. But accidents do happen like chocolate and peanut butter. While not quite right, that lowly DX200, just for the knobs over midi, gives some access to the soup. (Tabletop remote access to FM rack hardware) And, of course...

Re: An FM synth with knobs?

Yes, the DX200. Alex E beat me by seconds. Although it doesn't address the many FM parameters the knobs on the DX200 do transmit over midi. So, with some creative mapping... An interesting box the DX200 is. Marketed as a "groove box" it is oddly capable of doing some rather interesting thi...

Re: What got you into synths?

Poverty. No way I could afford a B3, a Rhodes, or a Clav, Wurly or any of that "pro" stuff. Had synthesizers come out with other than a piano keyboard interface and had not been able to emulate the "real" keyboards I may have never touched one. Yes, narrow minded but thats what poverty does. And, to...
