Re: Dead JP-8000

I could have sworn last night I hit the right four buttons, but it didn't work, then today it worked first shot. Right four buttons? There aren't four buttons to press for either the initial OS upgrade process or the test mode process (ribbon controller/joystick). Did you mean buttons for the OS up...

Re: Dead JP-8000

Glad to hear your JP8K is back up and running. I think I killed my JP8K last night. I was trying to get rid of the annoying clicks when using patches with a fast attack and read that upgrading the OS might help alleviate that issue (besides just using a softer attack). When upgrading the OS, you hav...

Both of these synths should be widely available in the stores. Have you checked them out in person?

Re: A guitarists perspective on old vs new synths :)

But many people forget that this is vintagesynth.com. Not keaybord bla bla. Or "Modern musicmaker", etc. I guess the guitarr people have their "vintageguitarforum" and their modern guitarpalyer stuff. If I were intrested in software, radiases and motifses Id go somwere else. If people want new vs. ...

I was going to say that very same thing days ago (and also in the Owl City thread), but I would have inevitably had someone complain that "I can't believe a moderator is saying something like this...blah blah".

Re: Akia VX90/AX73

Buyers guide? I already bought it... Im talking about midi specs and general info... how is this not generalsynth talk? The questions you posed in your original post are along the lines of questions people ask when they're buying gear (and it's not in your possession yet, correct?). They can be hel...

Using Velcro with Gear

Just curious if any of you use velcro or an alternative to help secure pedals (Behringer stompbox) on top of keyboards? Does this damage the paint? Any experiences/advice? Thanks.

Re: roland juno 6/60/106 alternatives

I don't know if anything is really a clone of those particular Junos, but you might try a Kawai SX-240. It can store patches and has an onboard sequencer. They don't seem to be as common as the Akais and JX series, though.

Re: Summer NAMM next week...

I'm going to complain that Tom Oberheim has been slacking lately because he hasn't re-released the OB-8 for under a grand with 64-note polyphony and real VCOs. Oh, and the h**l with Yamaha and their Motifs. Why haven't we seen the successor to the AN1x but with knobs for every function, a metal case...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard : most underrated of 2009

RD9, have you tried using a Blofeld? If not, give it a try if there's a store nearby that carries one. The large display is very helpful and its layout make it pretty easy to work with even though it isn't as knobby as other synths. I can see where it looks rather spartan, but I think you'll be plea...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld Keyboard : most underrated of 2009

I considered getting one a while back, but the menu-diving factor was a big turn-off. Would you say that the Blofeld could possibly be a good "preset synth" the same way the DX7 was a pretty good synth even if nobody would ever program it? Of course we shouldn't really compare the two, but you know...

I saw a video of a live performance of "Mad World" and remember spotting a Polysix. Don't know if that was used on the record, though.

Re: Patchbay (audio, not MIDI) recommendations?

Similar situation here--I need a patchbay and don't have the funds for one of the higher-end models. Considering the Neutrik, along with the dbx PB-48. I'd consider the Samson, too, but I haven't found many opinions on it. Any additional opinions about these? Just an fyi--this will be my first patch...
