Re: AN1x demo....finally

"This little beast is a minimoog, jupiter 8, dx-7, prophet 5, 2600, and polysix rolled into one" To make this comment, I have to assume you haven't actually played any of the above synths. I have an AN1X, and I do own or have owned all of the above synths (except the 2600). They AN1X is nothing like...

Re: Why buy hardware synths?

When I bought GMedia ImpOSCAR, I was amazed with the sound. All this did was make me want the real thing, because I know it would sound even better, and it would be more fun to play. I bought one and I was right on both counts. People always justify their software purchases because they can't justif...

Re: Why buy hardware synths?

There really isn't any need for a hardware/software debate; it's all dreamed up by us, on forums such as these. A truly gifted musician can accomplish anything using any equipment; doesn't matter whether it's hard or soft, keys or rack, electric or acoustic, analog or digital. So who are you to dec...

Re: Why buy hardware synths?

Why buy hardware when we have VST's?

Why buy a 25 year old professional Vegas hooker when we have Penthouse magazine?

Same thing really ;)

Anyone else prefer the MBase01 to the Mbase11?

I got a chance to A/B these to units this weekend, and I MUCH prefer the sound of my 01 to my friend's 11. The 01 seems rounder, fuller, more organic. The 11 had a tinny sound to it. It almost sounded like a VA or FM kick to me? Anyone else had experience with both machines? What are your opinions?

Re: Arp Odussey Lumina upgrade by CMS (Phil Cirocco). WHEN!?!?

I hear ya, but I've heard good things about his work. I was sort of banking on the possibility that one of our spam filters was to blame.

Arp Odussey Lumina upgrade by CMS (Phil Cirocco). WHEN!?!?

I've always wanted to do this upgrade, but the website hasn't been updated for over a year. Still says it will be available in June 2009, but I have never received a response from Phil on the subject (4+ e-mails). Does anyone have a relationship with Phil to check the status of this? http://www.disc...

Re: Resist buying, save up for the big one

What worked great for me was to write it down on paper and restrict my self in terms of space(my desk has X number of rack spaces, my stand can hold X number of keyboards, my mixer has only X number of inputs and inserts) I used to follow this methodology. Until I realized that these limitations ju...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

I really wanted to read the last post until I got to the word "oft". I mustered enough strength to read on, but was completely derailed by the word "minutia".

Re: Resist buying, save up for the big one

I think it's very easy to complicate things, and very hard to simplify them. The simple pleasure of making sounds and having that door opened for the first time is never the same again. =D> great words Something that is absolutely not healthy, is to avoid using or understimate your actual gear, wai...

"Gastric" Drum and Bass synth sounds?

I'm not a D&B producer, but I do like the sounds used in the style. Maybe because I've never personally figured out how to recreate them? How are sounds like this achieved?
