Rockit, I read back through your posts, and, in my professional opinion, everything you suggested is spot on. You readily admitted you don't know everything and that is fine. It doesn't mean you can't offer helpful advice, which you did. Books are fine. Although some don't learn so well from them, a...

As I see it, there are so many fantastic new synths on the market, there are increasingly fewer artistic reasons to buy the vintage classics, such that those who do will largely be nostalgic or collectors, and that's not good for low prices. Out of all the statements made, this one had the most res...

This thread is a bit scary. Quite a few posters don't understand the concept of multitracking and over dubbing, never mind mastering... Some people are learning, but at the same time, there have been some quite useful posts in this thread. Don't be so dismissive, especially when you aren't even gon...

I've never even touched a modular, but I like to kind of check out what's going on with them at times.

The Livewire stuff looks really unique and very cool to me. I also dig the Wiard stuff.

I've always wanted a Buchla 200e, but that's just a whole 'nother level!

The 777 can also do soft organic sounds too. I don't know why it sounds the way it does but it is easily my favorite synth. I think it's all the unique, funky modulation schemes. I don't make acid at all. More techno/hip-hop/euro-crunk type stuff. The 777 can do so much. I haven't used it much the ...

The 777 is the bollocks tho I've still yet to try one. I actually never realized how much bass my 777 pumped until I got my Genelec 8050's a month or so ago. Whoa!! It can literally make the walls move!!! Serious, serious sub-bass like nothing I've ever heard before. Especially with the FM cranked....

The 777 reigns on all comers!! :D

Of course, to call it a 303-clone is doing it a great, great disservice!

I don't think I would really change anything, mostly because I wouldn't sell what I have now. I spent the last year or so figuring out exactly what I wanted and felt I needed. I pared things down and tried to be really honest with myself about where I was headed creatively and what would best get me...

My Machinedrum, or Monomachine for that matter, through that Restyler please!! :D

I think I'm definitely gonna try one of these out.

On the subject of the 909 versus the 808, the modded 909's kick just can't be beat for that throbbing dance music beat, IMO. The 808 on the other hand is much more versatile, IMO, *if modded*. Plasitkman's classic track, Spastik, is filled with nothing but his modded 808 that's continually tweaked ...

might if you have it chained as master to another piece of gear w/ a display...if the other display would show the change in the master's tempo and not just hold whatever its tempo was set to originally before it was set to external... Yeah, but I guess that would require a MIDI-to-DIN convertor. A...

As far as tempo goes on the non-MIDIfied 808's, do you have to just kind of do your best with the dial and the tap tempo or is there some way to input a precise BPM that I'm not seeing? might if you have it chained as master to another piece of gear w/ a display...if the other display would show th...

I would love, love, love to add a TR-808 to my Machinedrum UW and TR-909! They are so friggin' expensive these days though. If I can find a decent deal on one, I'm gonna be all over it. Really wish they had MIDI. Can they still be retrofitted somewhere, or do you need to find one that has already ha...
