It was my first "music" soundcard. I thought it was great I replaced it only cause I wanted more ins and outs. I even gave it to a friend who needed a sound card. I think that if I were gonna buy a similar priced and function card today I'd get an EMU 0404 PCI. (PC only I think the m-audio card is a...

I'm not particularly familiar with these two synths. but it sounds to me like you have things set up right. do you have the manual for the DS55? if not check here (link on the right top) for a PDF manual http://usersmanualguide.com/yamaha_audio/synthesizers_(combo_products)/ds55 the only thing I can...

Yes My first piece of gear I got was a Boss SP-202, then I got a Korg DDD-1, a Roland TR-626 finally picked up my first synth about a year after, Kawai K1r. I still use the SP-202 (Live) and the K1r (studio) The K1r became a lot more useful once I got the manual. and an online guide on how to set up...

dodgey jog wheel on EMU XL7

O.K. I love my XL7 but at the moment I’m only using it as a sound module and with presets (except what can be programmed via the knobs) mostly because the jog wheel has become totally useless and I’ve switched to using Ableton Live as a sequencer for my studio. But back to the XL7 If I’m trying to a...

have you gone to the preferences and choosen your VST location? You can assign any folder to be the VST folder (so if you have another program that uses VSTs you don't need to make copies of the VSTs) I have a VST folder in my main Ableton Folder but I don't remember if I created that or if it was c...

Things are more expensive when they are NOT made in China by a large company. the price was bit more than I wanted to spend but. . . totally worth it. It is partially looks and partially function. I use mine as 8 columns each defining one loop (of varying length) you can then slice the loop into par...

It is great for controlling Ableton Live. I have a 40h which is the 8X8 one. I agree that it is less useful for studio stuff but it is great for live performances.

do a search for monome on youtube.
