Re: playstation startup screen: what synth?

But the n64 DID have an internal synth. really? I know it had a separate processor which handled audio & vector video but I was under the impression it just handled playback rather than synthesis.. N64 wiki: "The RSP also frequently performs audio functions (although the CPU can be tasked with this...

Re: Ensoniq FIZMO: 3 improvisations

would be fantastic if it was a little low-fi sounding, it's too crystal and digi to my taste I wonder if the Microwave series is better for that kind of thing? I've never heard anything smooth like this in demos of the Microwaves. (I've never used either, so this is an open-ended question for Micro...

Re: Ensoniq FIZMO: 3 improvisations

Great demos, Balma. Most of the demos of the Fizmo I've heard in the past were just those sort of "bubbly LFO" you mention, and I was underwhelmed, it seemed like nothing more than things you could do by messing around in Maelstrom in Reason.

Re: Help identify what synth this is what effects etc :)

Wow, I heard it and bought it immediately on Amazon MP3... I love jams like this. Anyway, I realize it can't have been the D-50, but that sound reminds me a lot of Jarre's leads on Revolutions. It makes me think it's more of the style of playing and programming that make that sound, rather than an O...

Re: Tangerine Dream Underwater Sunlight Synths

I prefer the 80's TD over 70's and definately 90's [cough] c**p [/cough]. To me the songs from this era were better structured and more melodic. I'm guessing that was more of Franke's influence. It was Johannes Schmoelling who first brought the increased sense of melody and structure into Tangerine...

Re: SCSI Zip Drive weirdness.

first thing i read was HD50 to DB25 connector, and went "Ahh, there's your problem". yes it would work- but one way only. Actually that setup works fine for the MPC, I mean it can read & write no problem. But that's probably not related to the formatting problem because the S760 has a regular Db25 ...

Re: SCSI Zip Drive weirdness.

Get rid of the evil zip drive as soon as possible. Having used them to sneakernet files to and from my Amiga for years (note this was years ago when i still used the machine) my best advice is HIE THEE AWAY!!!! Seriously. And don't replace it with an MO drive, then you're still going to have media ...

Re: SCSI Zip Drive weirdness.

Ok this is still really weird. I just went and bought loads of unopened Zip disks, all IBM formatted. Since my previous post, I also found a USB zip disk drive. My S760 still won't format these new Zip disks. It gets to '20' before giving a medium error on these disks. Now I essentially have only tw...
