Re: Wich sampler will you buy without hesitate

I've already hesitated twice on this one, so if i every see one in good nick.....i'd buy a Roland S330. Just to have it in a 4U case with my 2 S-760s and R-8m, all controlled by the DJ70mkII. I've also seen a Peavey sampler (can't remember the name off hand), but it's only the interface unit. Should...

Re: Beginner's Synth?

Also, if you insist on your choices (and want the MicroKorg), buy it secondhand. The price you then have to pay is far more reasonable for what's essentially a nearly 10-year old synthesis engine. I would suggest the MS2000 over the Micro. The 'knob per function' interface is far better for those l...

Re: Looking for a simple drum sampler

you can get more memory for the esx.... I would suggest external storage. There is a Harddrive upgrade for the MPC 1000. Maybe i'm olds skool with my sampling technique, but my first sampler had 6 secs of memory (x7000), and my second had 2Mb (DJ70). I would only have the samples i needed loaded in...

Re: roland mc303sequencing externally question

how do i get my mc303 to sequence several parts at once from my micro Q [part 1 strings, part 2 brass, part 3 pad, bass etc etc ] Could you expand on this a bit? :? If you are trying to record several parts at once from the uQ (keyboard or rack version?) the 303 can't do this. Any message sent into th...

Re: Synth or Beat Machine for Tweakable Drum Sounds

Tweakable drum sounds? I'd say that you have them fairly covered with the uQ. The rackAttack won't be that much different in character. Neither would the MD IMHO....your analogy synth drum needs = covered. The MD is quite different than an analog synth. Yes. But 2 of the 4 machines emulate analog d...

Re: Supernova II, really worth 1k?

The SuperNova is the only generation of Novation synths that i don't have. I saww one the other day, $950 (Can), i coudn't justify that. $500>$600 (Rack mount) I have a KSR (£180) which is only four part Multi-timbral, but ...it has a Muti -part that can be a Drum Map (with each drum sound being ind...

Re: MIDI Hookup Question

Which MIDI Keyboard is it? Controller (MIDI OUT)> (MIDI IN) XL-7 (MIDI OUT)> (MIDI IN) uQ I haven't used the Q, but i have some other Waldorf gear. What you should be able to do is set all 4 Parts of the Q to the same MIDI channel, but limit the range of keys that will respond. This way you can play...

Re: VA synths with instant program/patch change?

with a multitimbral synth, and considering you have 6 extra parts available.... Why not write Program changes into the bars with rests? Say you have a 4 bar riff between two tracks.... Track 1 bar 1 is your first timbre Track 1 bar 2 is a program change Track 2 bar 2 is the second timbre Track 2 bar...

Probably not.
You could but you'd have no control over the panning of the seperate channels.

Cool!

Saw them in Sweden over a year ago, and the show was absolute chaos!

Just a massive wave of feedback, long delays, and LFOS.

Intersting to see alot of what i saw at that show present in this video.

IDK what they go for in the States, but i picked up a Peavey Spectrum Filter for £90. Also there was a company called M.A.M. (Music And More, browse the archive) that licenced reversed engineered filters and synths stuff to a couple of companies. (Turnkey/f.a.t in U.K., American DJ in the US.) I've ...
